Have the Chinese ever heard of the saying "man cannot live on bread alone"? This is a well known saying of a great Middle Eastern Jewish man, the type of person your culture has never produced and never can.
You imagine that because the Chinese peasant has a full belly everything is good. This is why I said your people don't have anything beyond the peasant mentality. Sure, now you have advanced into a world power and have a mighty economy, with large state of the art cities and what not. But you still don't possess the spirit of freedom, the light of Religion, the values of moral courage and intellectualism. You are still peasants even when you're driving the fancy cars and shopping for the latest gadgets at the supermalls.
Call it Western freedom, freedom is freedom, Western or Eastern. China isn't a liberal democracy like America, that is why America will always remain superior to China. You still have the collectivist mindset and have not understood or appreciated the value of liberty. That is understandable since you come from peasant roots, where your entire existence was just about not starving to death. You didn't have time to develop greater sophistication and appreciate values like freedom of religion, freedom of conscience, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to criticize the government. Your culture still doesn't understand that there is a greater moral authority than the State. America learned that from Martin Luther King Jr and his concept of civil disobedience, that there may come a time when to disobey the law is the moral thing to do, because the law is not always moral. But China is way far behind in learning this lesson, probably because China doesn't have the same Western religious tradition that teaches these principles.
