100% correct. In fact, if you look at the history of Korean existence, whenever Korea (Joseon/ Choen) was under a military invasion (either from Japan in the 16th century to UN / ROK / USA in the 1950s) , the only thing that prevented Korea's total subjugation was in China's rescue on the last minute, and it always involved the defense of Pyongyang. During the Imjin Wars, Japan had practically wiped out Joseon's fleet and army, and the only last inch of territory that was left to conquer was Pyongyang region. Before Hideyoshi could launch his last crushing victory over the Joseons, the Ming Army under the command of 宋應昌 (Song Yingchang) helped push back the Japanese Armies. In fact if it was not for the armies under the command of General Song, the Joseons would have been subjugated by 1598.

Joseon was hanging by an inch. The Ming Dynasty rescued them from total and complete annihilation. So, the Koreans should be very, very, very grateful for the Chinese.

Well, NK is a country of the Sinosphere, so China definitely has the right to do that to ensure its own national security.

i don't think dprk will particular like to be called "a country of the sinosphere".

i don't like a socialist society like dprk to be run along family lines but china too seems more nationalist than socialist/internationalist... there is room for improvement in both places and for closer cooperation.

Well, Japanese in general tend to avoid open confrontation, having been there i can attest to that. It has both advantages and disasvantages , though more advantages.

Yi Song Shi was peripheral. His actions was of no consequence since he perished , ultimately. The only force that had prevented even stalled Japanese forward thrust into Korea were the apprehension of the Ming Army. Even during the Siege of Pyongyang, there was great apprehension by Gen. Konishi Yukinaga on the part of Ming intervention.Even after we sacked the city of Pyongyang and raized it to the ground, the forces of Yukinaga had been ordered to annhilate the Chinese garrison sent to inspect. The reason for this was that Yukinaga did not want any words going to the Ming Court of Japanese conquest of Pyongyang. Remember that the Korean King Seonjo --- was begging in the Ming Court to intervene when Seoul was sacked months prior.

The Ming did not even believe that Japanese forces were so quick to devour most of the Korean countryside. It was only at Pyongyang did they -- the Ming that is -- realized the full intent and capacity of Japan.
