NORTH Korea has told Britain they should consider the evacuation of staff from the peninsula before April 10th as it warned of impending nuclear war.

A Foreign Office spokesman has confirmed that the British Embassy in Pyongyang received a communication from the North Korean government, asking overseas missions if they were considering evacuating amid continued diplomatic tensions.

It said that the North Korean government would be unable to guarantee the safety of embassies and international organisations in the country in the event of conflict from April 10.

The British Government is now said to be “considering next steps”, including a change to travel advice.

North Korea has said nuclear conflict could break out at any time on the Korean peninsula, in a month-long war of words that has prompted the United States to move military assets into the region.

A spokesman for the Foreign Office said the Pyongyang regime had responsibilities to protect embassies under international conventions and claimed the latest move was “part of their continuing rhetoric” that the United States poses a threat.

A Russian embassy spokesman also said North Korea had asked about possible evacuation from Pyongyang as America’s former top diplomat in Asia warned there were clear signs North Korea’s old ally China was losing patience with the county.

Kurt Campbell, the former head of the State department in Asia said:”There is a subtle shift in Chinese foreign policy. Over the short to medium term, that has the potential to affect the calculus in north east Asia.”

China has also continued to move tanks and armored vehicles whilst flying flights near North Korea this week as part of a military build-up in the northeastern part of the country that U.S. officials say is related to the crisis with North Korea.

In a dramatic twist yesterday, China reportedly rejected a request from the North to send them an envoy in order to improve their soured relations, in what could be seen as a warning regarding the regime’s recent warmongering rhetoric.

Under a treaty signed half a century ago, China is obliged to “render military and other assistance by all means at its disposal” in the event North Korea comes under “armed attack by any state.”
North Korea has placed two of its intermediate range missiles on mobile launchers
The Russians meanwhile have confirmed that they would not yet evacuate any staff from Pyongyang. The spokesman, Denis Samsonov, said that Russia was examining the request but was not planning to evacuate at this stage, and that there were no outward signs of tension in the North Korean capital.A North Korean Foreign Ministry representative “proposed that the Russian side consider the issue of the evacuation of employees in connection with the increasingly tense situation”, Samsonov said.

North Korea this morning transported two more missiles to the east coast, Seoul military sources revealed, triggering speculation that it is ready for an abrupt missile launch.

The country loaded two intermediate-range missiles onto mobile launchers and hidden them in an unidentified facility near the east coast, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency has said.

“It has been confirmed that North Korea, early this week, transported two Musudan mid-range missiles by train to the east coast and loaded them on vehicles equipped with launch pads,” Yonhap quoted the official as saying.

The official said the mobile launchers had since been hidden in special underground facilities, according to reports.

The ominous move could be seen as a threat intended to demonstrate a show of power by the North to either Japan or to U.S. bases on Guam.

“The range is between 3,000 to 4,000km. There are major US military forces in Guam and a fixed number of troops to deal with the Korean peninsula, so I think these facts can reduce the possible danger there,” Kim Min-seok, South Korea’s Defence Ministry spokesman, said.

Yesterday, the US confirmed it would deploy a missile-defence system to Guam in response to the threats.

Meanwhile, military officials have revealed South Korea has since deployed two warships with missile-defence systems to track the North’s missiles.
The latest developments come as Prime Minister David Cameron warned that North Korea has the capability to launch nuclear weapons that could reach Britain. The Prime Minister made the dramatic claim as he called for the UK to maintain its nuclear deterrent – insisting the threat posed by North Korea was a “real concern”.He said the actions of Kim Jong Un’s regime were “worrying and threatening” and the country had “extremely dangerous” weapons.

He called for North Korea to abide by the United Nations resolution and ensure “that the heat is taken out” of the situation.

North Korea’s military announced yesterday that it would take a series of military actions against the US, warning it has ratified a “merciless attack” against the country in a war which could start “today or tomorrow”.

In a statement, the North’s supreme military command said it is formally notifying the White House and the Pentagon that “reckless operations” involving cutting-edge nuclear weapons have been finally approved.

“The moment of explosion is approaching fast,” the army said in a statement on state news agency KCNA.
How far North Korea’s missiles can actually reach
Today, UN chief Ban Ki-moon warned that “the nuclear threat is not a game”.The escalating level of threats from Pyongyang are “really alarming and troubling,” he said, urging North Korea to ease tensions.”Any misjudgement or miscalculation could have “very serious implications,” he said.

The North’s dramatic threats of nuclear war must not be underestimated, an expert in Korean studies has warned.

“We must assume the North Korean leadership is not crazy or suicidal in spite of bizarre things it says and does,” Sung-Yoon Lee, a professor in Korean studies, has said, warning that the North’s verbal attacks on South Korea and the US could be far more than just bluster and vituperation.

“Cruel, totalitarian and solipsistic the Kim dynasty surely is,” he said.

“But the fact that it has managed to preserve itself for more 60 years and, in the post-Cold War era, in spite of the everyday existential threat of facing an immeasurably more successful Korean state across the border, the impoverished North has shown itself to be, if nothing else, calculating and resilient.

Although the North’s ramped up rhetoric is not completely unusual Sung-Yoon Lee says, the country’s flamboyant tirades against the South and US have certainly become more dangerous.

“Pyongyang will most likely not just go quietly into the night after having thumped its chest for so long,” he said.

“We should expect some kind of deadly, although limited, attack to come soon.”

Tensions have increased since the U.N. Security Council imposed new sanctions on North Korea in early March, seeking to curtail its nuclear and ballistic missile programmes after it conducted its third nuclear test.

You people need to stop blaming North korean.

The west is placing sanctions on them and thousands of their people are dying due to starvation.
Of course they will make threats!

North korea is being treated like this because they are a sovereign nation who refuse to be the lap dog of the yankess.

actually its NK's policies which is going to be blamed for starvation of its own people.they are keeping millions of soldiers, thousands of tanks and hundreds of jets, around 80 subs for what???South Korea's military is less than half of what NK's military is.only the other day,i read the comparison of NK and Sk and i said,damn..without USA's help,SK will be annihilated within weeks.but you looks to the life of civilians of both countries, its exactly different.where SK is projecting itself as an economical power and elevating civilian life standard in an impressive standard,NK is using purge to shut voices of hungry people.they are building missiles and nukes to attack an imaginary enemy,USA.everybody knows NK is unable to do that.at max they nuke SK.and thats it.harsh decision of new emperor kim is going to blame for this escalation.

It will not but you can also not ignore the scenario. US might not have any trouble but south Korea will be totally annihilated. The chances of Nuclear strike increases when NK has atleast 10-20 bombs.
