None of us like doing anti-Pakistan roles or bashing Pakistan: Saif Ali Khan
By Web Desk July 28, 2015 14:37
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan stated that his relatives across the border did not like the fact that he essayed anti-Pakistan roles.
At a recent promotional event for his upcoming movie Phantom, Saif Ali Khan conducted a press conference with Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif and director Kabir Khan, to answer questions regarding the upcoming movie. In response to a question on how Saif Ali Khan’s relatives in Pakistan reacted to him essaying anti-Pakistan roles, Saif Ali Khan shook his head and said:-
“I recently spoke to one relative of mine and he said he didn’t like movies and roles that bashed Pakistan. None of us like doing anti-Pakistan roles or roles that bash Pakistan. So that’s not what we’re trying to do.”
Director Kabir Khan, who is basking in glory these days following the release of his latest Salman Khan flick Bajrangi Bhaijaan, took the mic and elaborated on the issue:-
“We don’t think that terrorists represent Pakistan. There are other peaceful people also living in Pakistan. There exists a negative mindset in India that terrorists represent Pakistan. I am the director of Bajrangi Bhaijaan and I am also the director of Phantom. The message of both these films is to increase the people-to-people contact between India and Pakistan.”
Kabir Khan was then interrupted by a male journalist, who started screaming out in protest over the Indian director’s defense of Pakistan. The angry journalist demanded an explanation as to ‘who were the extremists in India’ during which the director told him to calm down and not speak to him in that language. Katrina Kaif looked alarmed and then seemed to smile a little, as Saif Ali Khan was also taken aback at the journalist’s outburst.
