COIMBATORE: Graduates from the non-engineering streams are found to be loyal and committed, said Rajeev Kumar Singh, the global head for Wipro's campus recruitment who was in the city to attend, 'The Guardian's Podium' at the Sri Krishna Group of Institutions, an event for graduates recruited by the firm.
He spoke on the side lines of the event, about the recruitment patterns they have adopted.
Rajeev said that last year they had recruited around 4,500 graduates from the science streams for IT operations. "We find them to be loyal to the firm and with an excellent learning aptitude," he said. Apart from the engineering graduates they began recruiting science graduates a few years ago. They recruit non-engineering graduates who are later given the option to pursue a 4-year part time M S programme. They are later absorbed as senior software engineers.
"These graduates then get the same salary package as that of an engineer with two or three years of experience," he said. Executives from the firm say that this has helped them retain the recruited graduates for a longer period.
