So long as the Indian security forces maintained their draconian approach, the majority was never going to side with India.

But it is good to finally see Indians putting an end to the lie, even if indirectly, that the majority of Kashmiris preferred to be part of India. The territory remains disputed, regardless of what India does internally, and the Kashmiris should be granted their right to self determination as promised to them in the UNSC Resolutions and as committed to by the Indian government herself, multiple times, under Nehru.

Kashmir valley was never pro India but Jammu and Kashmir was not all about Kashmir valley only....That is the narrative, by Indian public throughout last 70 years...If 20% Muslims demand their voices to be heard in Indian politics then I beleive, Jammu & Ladakh will ensure, Kashmir valley do not get one way ticket to control the narrative for J&K.
Any way, i can see, that some thing drastic going on to happen in next 1-2 year...Either Pakistan will be forced to initiate a war with India and win Kashmir...or Kashmir people will have no choice rather than be like regular Indian...

Valley's vote was always the deciding factor; Now even Ladakhi Muslims are anti-India.

If you count AJK and GB as well in the final vote, India is the only loser; that is the reason behind stalling every peace process and not going for plebiscite. The only way India has held on to the territory is through military might, not through the confidence of the people.
