What's new

No major ‘Make in India’ defence project has taken off in 6 yrs

It is useful, because there's a whole ecosystem being raised from the ground. Was there even a armored manufacturing plant, small arms plant,

Armourer manufacturing plant? Dont you already have that?

Small arms plant? OFB that useless? It produced your SLRs and INSAS. How is producing another foreign rifle under license going to help?

UAV assembly plant, artillery plant, missile assembly plant, etc. under the private sector before the recent K9, M777, IWI small arms plant, MALE UAV plant, etc? No, these plants were all raised within 5 years and we still have transport assembly plants, more armor plant, etc. coming up.

Congrats on producing a uav fuselage (under license in a JV).

Producing X-95 bullpup.

On assembling arty guns.
They have come from module production to whole system integration and testing in a short period of time. These assembly line, etc. will eventually support the production of future whether it be DRDO programs or their own IPs.

Modules from AMCA, etc. will also come from these players. It's absolutely a big deal, maybe not for a developed defence industry like USAs, but for India it is.

Whatever you say boss.

OFB needs competition that's why. It can continue to be mismanaged, produce expensive poor quality arms, not meeting deadlines, etc. because they're the only ones doing it. Either they restructure or they get eaten alive by competition like Hindustan motors, simple.

Sure, OFB controls everything from small arms to tank production. Sector is opening up. L&T the largest infrastructure company in India is the first in the sector and not last to have a major armor production plant.

They will produce the whole system, eventually.

It's not just the X95, but a whole line of their small arms.

It's a good experiance to assembly and test such a system considering they've never done it. Big victory by Mahindra in the sector.

Whatever you say boss.

Considering the red tape, slow nature of Indian processes, they're doing a hell of a job. The next level is to produce their own IP or join in on more DRDO programs like ATAGS.
