New Delhi: Noted historian Irfan Habib has triggered a massive controversy by equating theRashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with the dreaded terror outfit the Islamic State.
Speaking at “Pratirodh” (resistance), an event organised in Delhi on the birth anniversary of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar - in the context of the fears of growing violence and intolerance and the undermining of pluralism – Habib said, “...There is not much difference between Islamic State (IS) and the RSS as far as intellect goes.”

In an interview to The Times of India, Habib said that while it is true that communal tension existed in the past as well but people like him have reasons to be more worried now.

“It is true that violence and tension existed previously. However, we have to keep in mind the fact that the RSS in some way or the other has been connected to these riots in every major report of such instances. The intelligentsia is now perturbed because those people are in power,” Habib said.

Habib went on to allege that RSS ids influenced by Adolf Hitler. “This is a government that is controlled by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). It is no secret that MS Golwalkar, the ideological fountainhead of the RSS, was an admirer of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party. This government is now trying to realize Golwalkar's dream,” he told TOI.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on his hit-list. “I think it is very disturbing when the prime minister of the country says something as unscientific as asserting that Lord Ganesha got plastic surgery done. For all his faults, Atal Bihari Vajpayee never said anything this ridiculous. Narendra Modi is much worse.”

Ok I am not an expert but couple of things I would like to add :

1. Habib Saheb thats your view, and the democracy of the Republic of India gives you full right to express your view so do it give me the same previledge.

2. RSS is the nationalist organisation, and perhaps you would be refering to the VHP which is the one which is the political wing. As far as RSS is concerned, the camps organised by the RSS is for teaching the value of decipline and healthy living way inline with the traidiotional hindu culture, now with Hindu it is not the Religion rather the culture of the region of the Indian Subcontinent. Even you can join the camp, but you have to buy your Khakhi Chaddi and white shirt on your cost. And for your information RSS even have a Muslim Wing, but there is no regulation for only Hindu, rather any one with any religion can enroll himself for the Camp.

3. Now should i burst your bubble the real agenda and reason for Going into the root of the various authors and historians why they are targetting BJP and RSS and even compare it with the ISIS. In the past Congress was the one who was patronizing all the so called author and historean, why because no one cares to read their writhing these days and the only one to buy those big books you and your friends and writing were the government herself for all the Libraries of the country, so decorate the creations there for ever. Congress was the one who was giving you all people all the patronage and the only way you can come in limelight is through these kinds of statements because the present government is not giving you much waitage and you have long relationship with the former congress govt. thats makes your pen dry while writing the Sikh Massacare in New Delhi.

By the way I am not an RSS man - not a fan at all....But that doesnt stop me in rejecting undue criticism.....

What kind of actions are you talking???? Well Indian media look for negative news and use it when ever they get a chance...... But when some thing positive happens our of it, they conveniently ignore or do not give importance, because that would expose their previous stand....

If you are really interested in the actions..... Then do follow these cases religiously...... You will get what actions are taken...... For example: The beef issue in Kerala house delhi.... It was all over the news and channels when it happened.... But when the home minister apologised (making it clear that it was mistake on govt;s view) how much importance was given to it? Did you even read it?

Agreed media playing with the sensitive topics for TRPs, But we can analyze the facts by going through different sources.
