ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan is due in Washington next week to outline the government’s counter-terrorism plans at an event being organised by the US Institute of Peace (USIP) on Feb 18.
USIP is a think-tank established and funded by the US Congress to increase nations’ capacity to manage international conflicts without violence and is supporting various civil society initiatives in Pakistan that seek to prevent, mitigate and resolve violent conflicts.

Informed sources told Dawn on Wednesday that Chaudhry Nisar would speak about the government’s recently announced National Action Plan to eliminate terrorism and check terrorist financing, coordinate intelligence sharing between federal, provincial, and military police and security agencies and create dedicated counter-terrorism forces.
Since the Peshawar school attack by the Taliban, which left at least 150 schoolchildren and staff members dead, the government has pledged to target all terrorist organisations.
A number of major steps have already been taken in this regard.
