Nine more killed as gunmen go on rampage | The Nation
KARACHI Nine more people, including a PPP activist, were gunned down in the ongoing violence in the metropolis on Sunday.
An activist of the Pakistan Peoples Party was shot dead outside his residence near Nagan Chowrangi within the remits of the New Karachi Police Station. Identified as 36-year-old Safdar Baloch, son of Mohammad Aslam, the victim was attacked by two unidentified armed men, who called him out.
According to police officials, Baloch, a resident of Bab-e-Iqbal Apartments, received a bullet in the head. He ran real estate property business in Gulshan-e-Maymar area.
The officials suspected that he might have been killed over personal enmity. Baloch was an active worker of the PPP and was associated with its Baldia office. His funeral prayers were offered in Gulshan-e-Ghazi area.
Separately, a 45-year-old man, namely Shumail Khan, son of Zarmeen Khan, was mowed down on main Super Highway near New Sabzi Mandi within the precincts of the Gadap City Police Station. According to police officials, the victim used to work at the Sabzi Mandi and lived in Sohrab Goth. Initial investigations suggest that a bike-borne armed duo shot and killed him over personal enmity. The body was shifted to the ASH, and later handed over to the heirs after autopsy.
Separately, a 30-year-old woman, identified as Haseena, was killed while her husband, Mirza Zahid, brother-in-law Asif and a guest, namely Daniyal, were injured when up to four gunmen barged into their house in Khuda Ki Basti and opened indiscriminate firing. Officials of the Surjani Police Station said it was not a targeted attack but a robbery bid. The officials, however, added the ATTACKERS did not loot anything. Further investigation is in progress.
In Aram Bagh area, body of a young man was found near a furniture market. The victim could not be identified till the filing of this report. Police officials said that apparently, unidentified attackers took him captive and later killed him. He had several torture marks on his body. The body was moved to the Edhi morgue, Sohrab Goth, for identification after medico-legal formalities at the Civil Hospital.
Separately, a 56-year-old man, identified as Shamsul Qamar, along with his spouse, namely Rasheeda Bibi, 46, and a nephew, Zeeshan, 23, was gunned down inside his house in Korangi No 4 within the jurisdiction of the Awami Colony Police Station.
According to DSP Majeed Abbas, the victims were having Iftari, when at least four attackers entered into their house, opened indiscriminate firing and fled.
All the three victims sustained multiple bullets and died. The bodies were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. A heavy contingent of the Rangers and police also reached the site and collected evidence. DSP Abbas further said that initial investigation suggested that all the victims were drug peddlers and were killed on personal enmity. Further investigation is in progress.

Identified as Muzammil, 40, the victim was attacked by two unidentified armed men, riding a motorcycle. Police officials said the victim had no enmity with anyone or affiliation with any party.
Separately, a 40-year-old man, Hayat Mehsud, son of Gulab Mehsud, was shot dead near his home in Khairabad Colony of Manghopir area. Police officials said that the victim was a labourer by profession and had no link with any party, suspecting that he might have been killed over personal enmity.
