Nigerian Woman Gang-raped In Indian Capital

You're the exception as Bollywood is a reflection of Hindi-speaking Indians beauty standards

Just look at what we consider beautiful:
  • Long, lustrous, thick, black hair.
Yes, they are prized in our ancient and medieval literature, in religion, and Bollywood- right from the 40s to now.
  • Fair skin.
  • Deep, dark eyes. Big, deep eyes are considered beautiful and mysterious. Most Indian women naturally have dark pupils, however those with light pupils are considered beautiful as well.
  • Straight, pointed nose (for both men and women).
  • Thin lips. Thin compared to a lot of other cultures which find full lips attractive. The lower lip is supposed to be fuller than the upper one.
  • Petite but voluptuous (big bosom, pronounced curves) Women with petite but voluptuous figures are considered more attractive than thin, muscular, broad-shouldered ones. The size zero attraction is relatively recent and borrowed from other cultures

I cannot see the image you posted. No arguments on the Indian beauty standards. Though I am not a native Hindi speaker per se. And a lot of our girls are very fair, some even light haired and quite a large number light eyed.

That said, having a standard of beauty does not automatically mean you find deviations gross. Variety is always good. Even welcome.

Not blaming anyone, especially not the victim..just stating a fact.
What is the point of stating that "fact" in this context? The thread is not about drugs or prostitution, it is about a Nigerian woman getting raped. When you come to such a thread and say what you said, it sounds like blaming the victim.

For example if a girl from Heera mandi(Lahore) claims she was picked up from the spot after midnight and raped..of course it would be still be a rape...but circumstances are suspicious.
What do you mean by circumstances being suspicious?

@ChineseTiger1986

Can we not have photos of hairless dudes in chuddies please.

I think there is something in forum rules that frowns on such. Gender equal laws and all.

Fair eyes and lighter hair are somewhat more popular but they aren't ideal. Personally I prefer green eyes over black and brown hair is very common in India. Also the picture should be working now.

@ your second statement: if something deviates too far people will find it gross. For example, in traditional societies of some African tribes, women with exceedingly large bums are considered attractive and in traditional Middle Eastern societies plump girls are the standard. Both types would not fly in India.

Indian society is no different. In fact, when did Pakistanis start taunting Indians about rape? After December 2012, when Indians very visibly and passionately protested after the Delhi gang rape case. It is only becaue Indian society is so angry with rape, that Pakistanis have gotten an opportunity to taunt us.

I would disagree. There is a difference. Remember that video where a lady took to beat men who were making inappropriate advances in a bus? Or the tragic incident of medical student in Delhi bus? What was the reaction of other passengers when this was happening? They were sitting quite as if it was none of their business. This does not happen in Pakistan. In fact the biggest threat to potential rapist are the Pakistanis around. All a lady has to do is to make noise. And the people around will beat him to near death. For some reason this response is triggered spontaneously when a lady complaints of inappropriate behavior. This does not seem to be the case in India. Protests and vigils are all good but they don't make the real difference. What people do at the time of incident makes the real difference.

Only if the criminals could be apprehended, I am sure they'll will turn out to be ISI operatives. Looks like ISI is funding this to defame India.

This is typical Punjabi response ingrained in our DNA next to eating and dancing.

lo ji. Indian tharkis rape thread pe bhi shuru ho ge.

You seem to be more concerned with others taunting you than the problem that exists in your country.

Somewhat witty, but misdirected. You might notice that Indians don't say such things, only Pakistanis do. The Taliban are Indian agents, every terrorist attack in India were false flag attacks by Indians, and so on. So spare this sarcasm for your own countryfellows.

I know, and I don't mind. I already notified a moderator (@waz) about this thread being against forum rules. If the admins and management decide to let it run anyway, what do I care? I'm not ashamed on behalf of Indians - I'm never ashamed for things somebody else did.

If the admins and mods decide to let a contentious thread run, that's their decision.
