New US export controls block China from achieving its semiconductor ambitions

Lol...do u know what you show are just study and technique which none are commercialize. If US is so good. Apple and Qualcomm wouldn't be begging Samsung and TSMC to made 3nm and 5nm chips for them.

Don't try misled the readers with your misleading statements. We all know the standard of US chip fabrication
I never said US was good. I asked why China announced there are break thru in 7nm April last year and then no release of 7nm chips.

You are the one that come out and tell me to shut up when US can't make 7nm, which they can and did. I never said anything about US being good at making chips, probably post 2024 will be when US start hosting TMSC fab plant in Arizona.

On another note, IBM unveil the 2nm technology breakthrough

Lol.. indeed US can't make 7nm chips. Those technique used in lab is not gonna help u make a real chips in the real world for commercialization. China lab also can make 3nm chips or even quantum chips but they are still far from commercialization. There is a big different from journal , lab work than real practical use.

i am sorry, do you mean Intel i9-12900 CPU is not a commercial product you can buy or it is not a 7nm chip?

How about i7-12700??

And finally, not all Intel chips are fab by Intel plant. Intel already outsource some of the fabrication to TSMC.

Now that you mention it. When can we see the 7nm GPGPU that you guys said was coming? You announced the breakthrough last April and people are expecting Loongson 5000 series to be 7nm, instead it was released as 12nm in July last year.

I mean, when TMSC announced the release of 5nm, it took them 3 months to make 5nm A13 chips, and now they already released A15, the second generation 5nm chips.....

In 2021, China has exceeded 7nm, but SMIC has not announced that.

It was not until western countries discovered 7nm from China when they were mining.

China (the PRC) has been creating homegrown semiconductors and other chips for about 10 years. The issue has always been the fight to reduce the size of the conductors and features on the chips. The Taiwanese (National China) are the leaders, now producing 5-nanometer configurations, while China has mostly been limited to about 14 nanometers.China is working hard to develop its own UVM machines to meet the competition

.
Do you think these technologies can prevent China from gradually controlling the semiconductor industry?
Oh yes I think so. China in 20y will be Russia today. Inbreeding, no progress, closed minded, only to own propaganda believe. Putin undoes all gains Russia made in 30y, there is a real risk, so will China.

.
Only Indian people will believe what you say. I bet even Americans won't believe this can stop China.

In 2021, China broke through 7nm. Maybe next year, you can see 5nm from China.
Whether Indian or Chinese or American, facts are facts whether they believe or not.

Intel don't use TSMC.

Reality is hard to digest for once giant....

Lol... More like western society will be robots with their control propaganda media which feed them only things that neocon wanted them to know. Anybdoy who thinks western media is really free need to get their head check. :enjoy:

I think now the direction of chips making are going to change. Go google "chiplet".

Maybe you should read the reference you supplied, I mean, actually digesting it.

“Intel is engaged with TSMC on N3 for its next-generation graphic processors (GPUs) in 2023, and the ramp plans here look bigger than we first thought. This is a material engagement,” he says.

Intel’s GPU rivals include Nvidia and others.

Or learn the different between CPU (Central Processing Unit), GPU (Graphic Processor Unit) and GPGPU (General Purpose Graphic Processor Unit) before you comment.

Also, later the same article talks about Intel CPU being inhouse design and manufactured

The big prize for TSMC is strategic CPU tapeouts — but there is a strong inclination for Intel to keep its core tech in-house for now, Simpson told EE Times in an email. “As Intel shifts more towards ‘fab-agnostic’ chip design, it is possible to see more outsourcing of its CPUs most likely in the 2024 timeframe,” he said.

Or in your case, if you are dumb enough not to know Intel 7 is Intel Propriety Technology (ie TSMC cannot use it, they have their own 7nm Fab anyway, why would they use it) Maybe it's best for you not to comment at all.

So suddenly GPU is not a chip? You claim Intel don't use TSMC to make their chips which is wrong.

Dude, do you even know what you are talking about? We were talking about Intel 7 for intel CPU, you were asking whether or not Intel buy any CPU chips from TMSC, to that I said Intel don't buy from TMSC. I never said Intel did not buy ANY CHIP from TMSC.

You said Intel do not have the capability to make 7nm chips, and then use that reference for the quote.

The article only said Intel is buying GPU from TSMC to make up the gap, and it said Intel is keeping the CPU production inhouse.

And no, Intel does not depend on TMSC for its CPU again, Intel 7 is a propriety.

In case you go sudden dementia, here are the exchange

Are you sure it aren't??

You need to go look up what is Intel 7

Is it fab by Intel itself or TSMC?
Intel don't use TSMC.
