A fresh US air raid targeting a commander of Iraq's Hashd al-Shaabi paramilitary forces killed at least six people early on Saturday, according to news reports, a day after an American drone attack killed top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani.

Iraq's state television said the attack took place along Taji Road north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, but did not name the targeted figure.

Hashd al-Shaabi, also known as Popular Mobilisation Force (PMF), denied that a senior commander was in the convoy.

Al Jazeera has learned that at least six people, including medics, were killed in the latest strike. Reuters reported that three other people were critically wounded.

Taji Road, where the attack took place, leads to a base of non-US coalition forces, including British and Italian troops, according to Al Jazeera's Osama bin Javaid, reporting from Baghdad.

Our correspondent added that a group of vehicles were hit.

A police source told AFP news agency that the bombardment there hit a Hashd convoy and left "dead and wounded" without providing a specific toll.

The PMF is an umbrella of Iraqi militias under Iraq's military.

. .
So Iranian personnel and proxies are being pounded with no response from Iran?

Iraq is a free for all Mad Max wasteland. There is no respected authority anywhere. Except maybe Erbil :disagree::disagree:

The country has seen far worse periods than this, also the political struggle in Baghdad is bigger than these strikes

army has to get these PMU units closer under its command to avoid them getting struck, we'd lose a lot of manpower needed against ISIS otherwise

ISIS is gone, isn't it?

ISIS is gone, isn't it?

They're still around, their situation is very similar to that of 2012. In 2012 ISI (Islamic state of Iraq) was largely defeated in Iraq, Syria's deteriorating situation allowed them to find a new base to re-organize and re-establish themselves starting in Anbar province.

If left untreated they'll rebuild again

Looks like the US is going after the militias there big time.

But the Iraqi army is useless and corrupt. If Iraq didnt had iranian-trained units then ISIS would have taken Baghdad

No, army should join PMU and attack US pigs. You're somehow too much appeasing to US pigs, addicted to drone attacks or what bro?

Such policy brought us the 1991 gulf war, 2003 invasion to start with. Only a retard would do that.

When that happened no one in the region stood with us, and Iran is not going to risk itself either in any major war which you know. I'm not interested in joining the resistance axis, it's a big fuckup.

That corruption is due to the Islamists in parliament to start with whom happen to be close to Iran.

In the end, ISOF, the army's 9th division and federal police led all offensive operations to retake the cities, the PMU took a background role after 2015.

2003 invasion and 1991 has nothing to do with resistance against US pigs once they arrived in Iraq.
Iran is risking itself 40 years and fought different battles against US.
