Realistically neither Japan nor Germany will be in the UNSC, the EU wants a single seat and Japan won't due to the issues with China. Brazil likely.

I think with the certainty of India & Brazil; either Turkey or Indonesia will be the part of any expansion UNSC too.

2 of the P5 weren't developed nation when joined and aren't even now

Yes, I think they are completely screwed up in their foreign policy. It has become a vassal of the US and never recovered from that position. They are nothing compared to what they used to be in the days of Imperial Japan. And what exactly should I know about Japan? Please enlighten me.

Indonesia will bring add balance to the UN SC....We have US-UK-France on one side, Russia-China on other, lets add India and Indonesia.

Indonesia will certainly serve our purpose in a much better way than Turkey, whose leaders talk high but finally do exactly what they are told from US, similar to Saudis. but its also true that Japan and Germany are very strong, they are not like other EU members or US. they will always have something by themselves to maintain their status in world, it is widely belived. like even right now, its the Germany who would either feed falling EU or they won't..........

Indonesia or Turkey dont have any strong claim on UNSC until 2020, i think. but these two of E7 would only grow and OECD would only go down, its also true. I think, Indonesia would start making grouping with BRICS for a stronger claim on UNSC seat....... but I was always inclined towards Turkey than Indonesia but the recent happening in Syria did down their reputation..........

Kalu Mian, it is believed that even if Germany and Japan were the losers of WW2, they will always maintain their status in world, whether US and EU fall or may take 1-2 decades more to fall. but Japanese and German will always have many superior technologies which will keep them on top for next 3-4 decades, at least, people widely accept. the + point with Turkey/Indonesia is, these two emerging economies will only grow, never fall while Germany/Japan may hardly maintain their status by 2020, even if many of US/EU will have fallen till then.

start with Greece will then proceed to Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Britain and then next we find France and others following this list. one by one all these economies are heavily indebted while debt of US is already around 103% to its GDP to date, with budget deficit around 10% of GDP itself, with not enough hope to grow like a developing country in future also. but with all these troubling US/EU economies, have a look on Germany who is the only hope of EU for survival right now while Japan..... check and you will find Japanese currency has much appreciated during last 4 years than US$. they have second largest foreign reserve after China and they have many key techs which will maintain inflow of money, similar to Germany. US also has many key techs but so much expanses on wars, already heavily indebted and on the top of that, they always look for high qualified migrants who develop techs for US and then back home . while Japanese labs are filled with Japanese citizens only and they will always have something new techs to offer to this world

India and Pakistan no because they have border disputes, put Israel in the same category those 3 should not be considered because of their disputes.

Germany and Japan no because US is their daddy. Brazil represents South America besides they are widely respected worldwide plus good economy and military to boot. Turkey to be the ME representative. I would consider Iran or Saudi if they can diversify their economies and make it less reliant on oil/gas.

Also system should be the resolution needs 4 yes in order to pass therefore the one veto cannot derail a whole process like we see today. So 4/7 resolution passes.

If we go with your way then even Turkey and China also don't have any to claim UNSC seat.....
