New President in Sri Lanka Puts China's Plans in Check

Rest assured the new govt will have a more prudent wide foreign policy than the Rajapaksa regime but not at the detriment of time tested and strong relations with China or Pakistan.. Realize these strong bonds have been remaining for over 40 years with many govts in Sri Lanka.. There is no reason for the new govt to change that

I think that would be perfectly fine for India who has learned to live with that over the decades. However potential Chinese military presence is something that has been an issue for us.

You are a funny dude.. You accuse @Saradiel of being bias towards RW.. But i've seen nobody hero worship MR and his gang like you do.. To the extend of being bigoted against anybody that does not confined to your racist ideals.. No wonder you look up to the likes of BBS and it's architects the Rajapaksa's

Talking about foreign ministry you seem to ignore the massive.. Unprecedented politicization and thuggery in the history of Ceylons once celebrated foreign service.. Pathetic

Dont make me laugh, The only reason SL will have to face the Human right council is because the Rajapaksá pets and the impunity they had to destroy the FM

What did they do to the people who were instrumental in defeating the US led motion in the first UNHRC ?

Dr. Dayan Jayathilleke ?
Tamara Kunanayakam ?
Dr. Rajiva Wijesinghe ?
MM Zuhair ?

What happened to Chris Nonis ?

Well first you have purposefully ignored my comment on SL non-align policy. Maybe you agree with me there.

Second I don't whitewash MR for what he did. AFAIK he was the best president we had among the other three before him. MR had his goods and bad but what is important is where he has led the country to. I think even you agree that when he left in 2015 our country was in much more better shape than 2005.

You are completely losing your focus in the foreign service business. Just look how previous governments handled it. MR was no different than them. In fact our FS is a retirement plan for many henchmen of the president or government. Mostly because there is not much work to be done there.

I actually don't know why Dr. Dayan Jayathilleke, Tamara Kunanayakam, Dr. Rajiva Wijesinghe or MM Zuhair was ousted from their positions. Though I vaugley remember Tamara Kunanayakam having some row with the then government. If you can enlighten me on this is greatly appreciated.

Finally I like to say that changing the FS will not make UNHR water down there resolution. UNHR wants blood. Rajapaksha blood to be more precise. UNHR will push SL until we hand over MR to them. If you feel that is what we should do with Rajapaksha well go ahead and do it. This is the time for that.

See that is the thing bro.. You seems to be oblivious to many things.. And just goes on by hat ever propaganda you believe in.. Those who i mentioned were instrumental in starving off the first resolution against SL infact winning it against the powerful US and EU.. Not a mean feat for a small country.. Speaks volumes for thier diplomatic skills.. The regime then just gave MR's blue eyed boy Sajin Vaas who have not passed his O/L's and and his main squeeze Kshenuka Seneviratne, to run amok the foreign ministry forcing these people out of office and putting in thier political henchmen.. Thus totally destroying whatever they managed to achieve in the interest of SL.. The Rajapaksa regime just shot themselves in the foot.. Nobody actually needed to conspire to make them look bad in the UN and elsewhere.. Not RW not the LTTE diaspora.. MR and his coterie did it themselves.. IF you cant see that i pity you

Go do some research knowledge your self, I have given you the names

Add to that the shameful incident with Chris Nonis.. At no time in history had our foreign service been gutted to this level.. Who is to blame ?

And you can thank RW for refusing to sign up for the International Criminal court.. Sri Lankan citizens are immune from it's prosecution because of that.. So dont worry it wont happen.. And no right minded Lankan will let it happen

I don't believe that those people had anything to do with wining the first rounds of UNHR resolutions. In fact first ever resolutions were seem unjust to many countries and also for India. But when time flew those resolutions were seemed appropriate. For being a small nation without much international leverage we did our best to fend off those resolutions. I dunno we might have to do it in the future.

And also a side note, even though there is a head of embassy, there are civil servants who are well trained on foreign relations issues. I dunno whether they also were to be blamed for the mishaps.

Obviously MR.

No leader of a country who was actively engaged in conflicts signed Rome convention. Anyway there are other ways to bring people to the international criminal court. Milesovic is a prime example. You talk with very much of confidence about people will not let it happen. But could anyone stop the sighing of Ranil's peace accord? Could any one stop Milesovic from the abduction? General public cannot stop those from happening how can you be so sure?

What you BELIEVE and what facts are two different things.. Unlike you i come to informed conclusions.. You at most times go on one tracked propaganda and what you believe in not on facts.. Pity you dont even know how instrumental these people were not just in avoiding a US sponsored sensor but in fact defeated the resolution.. What happened since then ? Who was there to defend the country at multi fora after Mahinda's batty boy Sajin Vaas took over and purged the foreign ministry of career diplomats and qualified people?

How can I know these facts that you know unless you express them out. It is time that you can share your knowledge on these matters. We would love to hear what you have to say. But what you doing is blaming us on our reasoning.
