What's new

New Nirbhay 02 Missile.

of course they have

JUST LIKE INDIA CAN SHHOT DOWN NASR OR BABUR,

THE QUESTION IS can you acquire more than india who has TEN TIMES YOUR MONEY

In tomorrow's trial, it will fly as low as 20 meters.
Terrain hugging over land and sea are two different things.

One can be pre-defined while the second is not and ever changing surface. The critical part will be getting this to between 5 to 10 metres. Then comes another problem. A missile coming in this low, sees the target comparatively later than a missile which comes in at say 50 mts. Another problem sea skimmers are difficult to be used in rough weather. Else, the guidance and the materials used needs to be really good. As good as a Naval Airforce pilot who has practiced flying by his pants.

Yeah may not be terrain hugging but tomorrow it will be low altitude flying. I am sure in future trials it will do terrain hugging tests too.....

One question, its a cruise missile, its suppose to be terrain hugging, when will we try it for say 40M height?
Cruise missiles are designed to deliver heavy warheads over long distances. Flight profile and range are connected. The lowest level flight may not be necessary for the entire flight path. Against a heavily defended target you may use a lo-lo-lo path, but this may shorten max range.

Source please. The article says 4km.
The missile will be likely to be brought down from around 4.8 km to 20 m.

A 'land attack' cruise missile - unlike e.g. an antiship missile - doesn't necessarily need to 'see' its target. You just need very accurate navigation and target data.

do india have such capability ?

Did I mention India in my post??

Please read the post in its context, specially when someone is replying to a post. You Indians have habit to jumps in without knowing what is going on.

of course they have

Have you studied about Pakistani air defence capabilities????

Pakistan have huge network of radar / IR / EO guided SR-SAMS & AAA other then MR-SAMS.

Following system is part of Pakistani air defence and even that gun system can bring down CMs specially subsonic ones.

Oerlikon GDF - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also these are there to track low flying objects, although other systems are also part of air defence which can track and engage CMs.

GIRAFFE Radar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia

Following SR SAM can also be used with Giraffe radar.

I can only comment what I have learned from reading related literature.

There is nothing strange of new with Narcho 02 missile. Some missiles even fly only a couple of meters above the sea surface.

Anti-ship missiles, whether high subsonic Sea-skimmers or supersonic high altitude type are deadly. Low flying missiles have been popular since the Falkland conflict primarily because these are difficult to detect and anti-missile defence has only about 90 seconds for detection & shoot down. However target acquisition with sea skimmers is more difficult especially in the rough seas.

Anti-missile defence is still evolving and at least 2- tier defence is a must. First being anti-missile missiles such as Sea Sparrow, Crotale etc. second being the CIWS system like Phalanx. Anti-missile laser is being evolved which probably be more effective but I for one, can’t see how any current anti-missile system can successfully cope with say 2 or 3 sea skimmers coming at it simultaneously.

One of the essentials in accuracy of the missile is its ‘search angle’ because once the target has been acquired it is ‘Fire & forget’. Since a single hit by a couple of million dollar worth anti- ship missile can sink a $400- million destroyer or even a $4 -billion aircraft carrier; best defence against anti-ship missiles is to shoot down / disrupt the aircraft before missile has been launched or sink the warship armed with anti-ship missile before she is in position to fire.

Recent missiles such Indo-Russian ‘Brahmos’ fly at Mach 3 and air launched from more than 150 miles; there isn’t a lot current sate of art anti-missile defence can do provided Brahmos is as accurate as it is claimed. Naval ships are extremely expensive and unless a credible an inexpensive anti- missile defence is developed soon, naval battle will be reduced to firing salvos of cruise missiles at each other from 300 miles with shipboard MR aircraft & GPS system providing the target acquisition data.

However armament industry thrives on developing new deadly weapons and then developing more weapons to counter the same. I my opinion soon all future warships will be equipped with power shipboard laser based anti-missile defence system. Else surface fleets will become redundant and all future naval offensive operations restricted to submarines.
