Gloveone lets users 'feel' and 'interact' with virtual objects on screen/VR glasses.

A Spain based company has developed new gloves called Gloveone that gives users a feel of objects from the virtual world they are interacting with. According to the developers the glove can produce a variety of sensations including rain and fire.

Tech company NeuroDigital Technologies have developed the new green and black gloves called Gloveone, which actually let users feel sensations like shape and weight when interacting with virtual objects. Gloveone is a glove made out of fabric that lines 10 haptic actuators along the user’s fingertips and palm in order to create the sensation of touching objects in VR and feeling their shape and weight. A lipo-battery is fitted to the wrist and motherboard rests on the back of the user’s palm. By putting on a head-mounted display (HMD) like the Oculus Rift and using a hand-tracking sensor such as Leap Motion, players can reach out and take control that seems very realistic.

The gloves come with 9-axis IMU sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometers to measure various movements, orientation, velocity and even gravitational forces. The IMU sensor will help track users hand in the virtual world in order to offer a more realistic experience. The sensors can even detect each other to give users an experience of holding an apple or a water bottle from the virtual world in their hand.

The company is looking for funding and has started a Kickstarter companion to raise $150,000. They have already raised $53,641 and have 188 backers at the time of writing this article. Examples shown in a Kickstarter video include plucking the strings of a guitar, catching a butterfly and holding a hand over a virtual fire. An early bird tier on the Kickstarter campaign is offering 50 backers the chance to secure a Gloveone for $170, which is set to arrive in December 2015. After this the price will increase to $199. The campaign will close on July 10. The company is offering rewards of up to $10,000, where five backers can head out to meet the Gloveone team in Spain.
