New Charge Sheet Links Tablighi Jamaat & Deoband to Delhi Riots

Those who thought that this vilification of Muslims would end at the Tableeghis, haven't learned enough.

In latest chargesheet on NE Delhi violence, Delhi police claims that one accused "was in touch with" Darul Uloom Deoband & Tablighi Jamaat and presents it as some kind of conspiracy.

Now just phone calls to members of the Tableeghi Jamaat or Deoband is evidence enough for a conspiracy.

In the mean time, all Hindus who were photographed taking part in the anti-Muslim pogrom are yet to be even arrested, and in all probability, they will never be.

There is no justice for Muslims in India.

I hope and believe that there are enough morally-engaged lawyers to step forward and defend the defendants in these cases.

This is the filthiest travesty of justice, and an open invitation to kick any Sanghi in the backside who believes that this is an equitable government.

I am confident that all will be acquitted, because the chargesheet prepared is likely shoddy and cannot withstand judicial scrutiny. But that will be probably 10 years down the road, after their lives have been destroyed and all savings depleted.

I would want to read this chargesheet in detail before coming to any conclusion. May be there is a link. Also, may be many Hindus are named in the chargesheet.

If not then this government has crossed all limits of shamelessness. But I don't expect much better from this government or the Delhi Police which unfortunately comes under the central government.

Can you show how the riot was planned and was Kapil Mishra part of the plan?

That's what I am talking about. Let me talk to my lawyer friends in Delhi immediately. If no one else has picked up their case already, I will do my best. I need their names, of course.

I would want the defendants to file a PIL which will be free of cost. If they have been arrested, they cannot be kept in remand for longer than 72 hours. Even if it's a "non bailable" chargesheet.

They should not have their savings depleted in fighting such a case. Let the government lawyers throw whatever bullshit (terrorism etc.). Our lawyers talk to Amnesty International.

Many of these cases were thrown out simply because they lacked substance. Not everyone's savings was depleted. I wouldn't want the poor guys to feel victimized. They need to stay strong.

This matter will go before a district court judge. Trial will happen here. I get what you are saying but let's see.

1. Protection against coercive actions
2. Right to file an appeal against harassment of self/family members
3. Fear of life of self/family members
4. Government vested interests

There is a huge list. Once a PIL is filed re: the exact case in which they are framed, it can no longer be ignored.

Of course a separate bail application is required with respect to the PIL.

More details I know which I cannot disclose here. I just spoke to my friend in India, in fact. He will take a closer look.

He was a speaker at another protest site. I don't think he's getting prosecuted, apart from a slap on the wrist and I guess there will not be any major arrests. Has Modi ever been arrested for his Speech during the Gujarat riots? Although it's a grey area and that grey area cases drag along for years until some court finally squash it.
