Don't know much.

India is trying 2 missiles, endo-atmospheric that is shoot missiles inside atmosphere (45 km altitude) and exo-atmospheric that is shoot outside atmosphere (45-120km altitude)

Phase might refer to their schedule or the booster stage. Seriously, we need an expert here to simplify things for us.

"Dhoni" cannot be named for a missile but a Helicopter is a whole different story.

Phase-I is DRDO's program to develop ABMs (PAD/PDV [exo-atmospheric] & AAD [endo-atmospheric]) targeting IRBM class missiles (launched from up to 2000 km away). Phase-II is the program to develop ABMs (AD-I & AD-2) to take out ICBM class missiles (launched from up to 5000 km away).

PAD upto 80 KM (@ stage)

PDV upto 150 to 250 KM .
