These guys dismantled global colonialism. Firstly the Tsushima victory excited ALL non whites,Africans,Arabs,Indians and Black Americans.

A young Oxford lecturer interrupted his Greek history lesson saying:"the most historical event which has happened,or is likely to happen,in our lifetime has happened;the victory of a non white people over white people."
Lord Curzon,Viceroy of India, the Jewel in the Crown, the richest colony in Johnny Brit's 200 year colonial history solemnly declared:"the reverberations of that victory have gone like a thunderclap through then whispering galleries of the East."
The German Kaiser proclaimed it,"the most important battle since Trafalgar a century earlier."
A still young unknown Indian lawyer,Mohandas Gandhi commented,"so far and wide have the roots of Japanese victory spread that we cannot now visualise all the fruit it will now put forth." He later added:“When everyone in Japan, rich or poor, came to believe in self-respect, the country became free. She could give Russia a slap in the face.… In the same way, we must, too, need to feel the spirit of self-respect.”
The then teenage,Jawaharlal Nehru, future extremely cerebral first PM of independent India foresaw his future role,"Indian and Asiatic freedom from the thralldom of Europe." In fact Indian babies were named after Japanese admirals!

The Borodino going down in flames

After WW1,Japan insisted on a racial equality clause to be inserted into the new League of Nations charter. US prez Wilson, however acting under orders sabotaged the proposal with typical deceit:

"Edward M. House—Wilson’s advisor for the negotiations who had also initially supported the clause but had since backed away from it—slipped Wilson a note, which read, “The trouble is that if this Commission should pass it, it would surely raise the race issue throughout the world.”....Still, the Japanese delegates insisted there be a vote. Wilson then made the last-minute, unprecedented decision that the vote had to be unanimous, and only positive votes would be registered. Without the support of the delegates from the United States, the British Empire, Portugal, Poland, and Romania, the Racial Equality Clause was defeated. "

Dai Nihon Turen Seinen Renmei, the Great Japanese Turan Youth League in Tokyo with black Americans. Not many, even black scholars know of Japanese links with black America during this era. "The FBI estimated over a 100 k+ pro Japanese black Americans."

Japan assisted many Black American groups fighting racism and colonialism and had supporters as far as Ethiopia!! Throughout SEA many of their agents trained freedom fighters.

The pics of their early successes further entranced aware Colonial people.

When things turned dramatically south for the IJA thousands remained to assist their new found allies fight their returning oppressor throughout the collective Great East Asia CoProsperity Sphere .

"Rachman Shigeru Ono,who lost his left arm in the war is one of among over a thousand who helped Indonesia fight the Dutch after the IJA surrender mainly on Sumatra,Java and Bali."

In Vietnam at least 5000 IJA servicemen stayed behind, mainly in the north to continue the war after surrender. The Viet Minh, despite their communist leanings eager accepted Japanese weapons and training.....In Hue in 1947, the French reported battling a Japanese assault force of 150 men. Also in 1947, Colonel Ishii helped set up an ambush that killed upwards of 70 French soldiers.

The tens of thousands of returning African infantrymen were also infused with a hitherto absent sociopolitical consciousness after seeing the Whiteman bleed and die at the hands of non white Japan:many from both E and W Africa served in Burma.

It was later realised they'd undergone a Frantz Fanon epiphany in the hell of combat.

Aware Indians know the Navy mutineers who facilitated independence were led by ex INA officers-its no accident.

Seeing how benevolent Japan was in their Korea protectorate and their sincere efforts at actualising the Great East Asia CoProsoperity Sphere its extremely disheartening to hear tedious redundant slander people believe about the IJA.
Rape of Nanking,so called Unit 731,comfort women etc etc,but by far the most hilarious is the tale of how the IJA ATE 20K INA SEPOYS ON THE SOLOMONS!!

What happened in the Phils, however, though accidental will forever stain IJA honour.

"On April 9th 1942 after resisting for 4 months US and Philippino forces on Luzon and Corregidor surrendered. Already malnourished and out of medical supplies to treaty malaria the 75,000 men from all branches of the US military overwhelmed an already stretched IJA logistics system."

Anyway to all formerly colonised people in Asia and Africa and to any Japanese here, this is for you:
"ALL AFRICANS,NIGERIANS,UGANDANS,KENYANS,SOUTH AFRICANS, ASIANS INCLUDED ; INDIANS, BURMESE, MALAYSIANS,KOREANS AND VIETNAMESE OWE A MASSIVE DEBT OF GRATITUDE TO JAPAN.

ALSO,JAPANESE PEOPLE,STOP APOLOGISING FOR THINGS YOU NEVER DID! THROW YOUR ANGLO KHAZAR LEADERS OUT OF POWER AND RETAKE YOUR PLACE-AT THE HEAD OF ALL NATIONS."

You guys have a lot of vitriol for each other-I hope you know your REAL HISTORY!

Well I think the Koreans, the Chinese, and some South East Asian countries might have some non-rosey opinions on Japanese colonization.

Didn't stop certain characters from thinking Japanese were liberators of countries under Western colonialism. Subhas Chandra Bose was one such useful idiot, and he even knew it that he was simply trading one colonial power for another.

All bs and inferiority complex! Those stories of Nanking have been debunked multiple times. Fyi,th population of the town increased A MONTH after the so called Rape of Nanking. How? Do your own reading :don't rely on me. Korea was modernised by Japan during the 40 year protectorate.
Even their rail network was laid by them! Again, I urge you to do your own research.

Oh wow this thread is not going to end well. A super rare Africa vs Asia fight.
I'm not going to argue your point that Japan brought some modernization to Asia...but at a human cost.

that's a very good history-book chapter. i like reading those. thanks for posting it.

Srsly, you guys know or should know the inherent violence of colonial control systems:do you really think it was Gandhi's peaceful protests or the IN mutiny of ex INA troops that led to independence?

Come on man look at your capital and compare it to 60 years ago. You think the Chinese or Japanese built it? No, plenty of the same exploiters you are railing against helped you build it. I'm sure they weren't the nicest and probably treated you like 4th class citizens in your own country...but they weren't bayoneting babies.

What they did to Chinese people was very similar to Nazis did to Jews. Saw a documentary on 'rotten leg disease' few weeks ago. What they did was totally barbaric. No wonder Chinese hate Japanese.

They were worst then Brits, i dont know any major atrocity committed by brits in Punjab except jalianwala bagh incident in which hundred of Punjabi lost their lives, except that they were far batter then our own ready to kill barbarian sikhs and Muslim tribes , they only ruled Punjab for 80 or so years and they build, awesome canals, railways, bridges etc inducted Punjabis in bureaucracy and military.
