Nestle Bangladesh Ltd has planned to ramp up its investment and expand factory establishments considering the country an "attractive" growth play.

Managing director of Nestle Bangladesh Stephane Norde unveiled the Swiss company's plan on Sunday during a meeting with industries minister Amir Hossain Amu.

Mr Norde appreciated the present investment environment and said Bangladesh has become an attractive investment destination because of its rising economy and the young population.

He told Mr Amu that Nestle has set up a research laboratory of international standard to ensure food safety.

Industries secretary Moinuddin Abdullah, Nestle Bangladesh Ltd corporate affairs director Naqib Khan and senior manager Mirza Golam Hossain were also present in the meeting.

Welcoming the Nestle's investment plan, Mr Amu said many companies of China, Japan and Korea have expressed their interest to establish separate economic zone in Bangaldesh.

Mr Amu urged the Nestle officials to supply quality food at affordable price for the grassroots level people of Bangladesh.

In another meeting with the representatives of Association of Grassroots Women Entrepreneurs, Bangladesh, the industries minister assured women entrepreneurs of continuing policy support.
