Nepal's Maoist Double Cross

Nepal army is pro-India. the present UPA government has made lots of mistake on foreign policy front.

By allowing chinese bases to be set up in Srilanka, Maldieves and now allowing chinese influence in Nepal, they have made sure that Indian security interests have been severely undermined.

As such, India has to ensure that Nepal stays in its fold - need be with active intervention.

Things look bleak at the moment.

there is a contingency for active intervention in support of Nepal Army and pro-democracy movement in Nepal if needed .... how far does the GoI now or later have guts for it, is to be seen.

Active intervention is no joke. It can be a political disaster, it has to be handled with extreme care and finesse. I seriously doubt that even if push comes to shove, UPA or even the NDA for that matter would have the balls to go through with it.

Active intervention should also have a time frame, get in, kill the Maoist cadres and get out, the ramifications of staying there are too great.
