I was wondering, that seeing as AshM's are being bought by almost every country in good quantities whether Navies like IN need a dedicated AAW FFG/DDG to protect its CVG.
I mean sure that in IN's case there is Barak 2 with 70 km range and then Barak I and then Kashtan, but the thing is that inface of a barrage of AshM's , this does not even seem remotely sufficient to protect high value assets like the Carrier. 70km range does not seem sufficient at all.
Does the IN need a dedicated AAW FFG/DDG to escort its CBG? UK has the Type 45 DDG, said to be the most capable AAW ship ever. They need that to protect their Carriers, why not India?
The second part is, that im a bit confused on the difference between AEGIS type DDG's and the Type 45 DDG. AEGIS was supposed to be the almost impregnable AAW wall, and AEGIS equipped ships are supposed to be the best for AAW, like the Spanish something-something-Bazan class AAW ships. So where does the Type 45 fit in this, i dont think it has AEGIS.
Could some one please clarify this, and please dont post wiki links to aegis and type 45, i'd appreciate if some one could actually explain this concept to me.
