What's new

Nearly half of Taiwanese unwilling to fight to defend nation

. . .
So what, students from some countries have less value than others?

Nope, nothing like that. It is what it is and China had about 500,000 study abroad students and its just interesting to see the make up, no implied meaning attached in that post.

. .
Would you if you are Taiwanese?
Why can't this stupid woman leave her post to a man and let the status quo remain?
Now she has more than what she bargain for as China raises her DEFCON readiness

Again, Taiwan was not part of the long history of China. It was never part of the old Han dynasties like Hong Kong was. Even the Europeans from the other side of planet got to Taiwan before and Han dynasty set up any level of jurisdiction on there. And the Qing only got there because it went after run away remains of the Ming.

For today, despite the rapid growth and modernization of the PLA forces, it cannot sustain a full blockade around Taiwan. If it cannot do that, then it cannot capture the island.

We are now discuss military issue and you now jump to politic side of story, is that another novel you are about to write then?

Sorry nobody has enough time to read your novel, whether Taiwan belong to China has zero relevance to the current situation since China is determined to take Taiwan by force if necessary, meanwhile accroding to both China military leaders and US military leaders, as well as top-tier US miltary think tanks and agencies, they all tend to believe China can take Taiwan by force successfully (and relatively easily).

Whether you, a man show no expertise (the exact opposite of expertise to be honest) in military issues, believe such thing is your problem, not mine, if I am all for charity I may waste my time to try to enlight you but obviously it is not the case, so I am done with a goof such as you.

The Kingdom of Ryuku aka Okinawa was forcifully annexed by Meiji Japan in 1879 and was never any part of Japan history so set it free first. :coffee:

People have the freedom to read or to not read. If you don't read, then don't reply?

This survey doesn't make any sense. 🤔
Taiwan's military power is of no use at all and will not affect the war situation.
So it doesn't matter whether Taiwanese want to defend nation or not.

That is true, its a newer addition to Japan territory, taken away by the US but then returned by the US. Okinawa independence sentiment is very low. There aren't any Okinawans being sent to dentention centers unlike Xinjiang. If there were dention centers on Okinawa, then it could be said that maybe Okinawa should be independent because of bad treatment of locals by national government. But such bad treatment is not evident. Anti-US base is a different matter and not the same argument about Okinawan independence. But people in Xinjiang aren'g allowed to assemble, aren't allowed to vote, aren't allowed to access the internet freely and so on. So if one wants to raise Okinawa, one ought to raise Xinjiang first. If Taiwan wants to unify with ever growing wealthy PRC, then they would do so on their own accord. But they don't. Why? Because the cost of being "harmonized" by single party rule with tremendous control is a cost that can't be outweighed by money.

Well. This is because the Kingdom of Ryuku lies in East Asia and not in the Wild West of China where the real reason for unrest has nothing to do with people but secessionists and Jihadists.
If that happened in Japan, your real ugly color ans nature which we have seen during WW2 will once again reemerged as the monster we once knew.
That is why the military revitalization by Japan is seen as a THREAT to all of us.
Japan is no angel in our eyes.
The actrocities of their ancestors including Abe father are written on the walls and even depicted in museums all over Asia except in India where fortunately for them was stopped by Chinese KMT soldier in the Luda Road to Burma.

The view of Japan being a threat is PRC's own creation. But of course Japan is no angel. What country is an angel? The PRC???

The reinterpretation of Japan's constitution came with overwhelming international support. It could not happen without the threat China poses to its neighbors.
