To win, a candidate needs a ticket of a major political party and support of one (of the usually two) Dharra. That's why 'Ticket Distribution' (esp. in Punjab) is a cardinal consideration. PTI has successfully replaced PPP as an alternate top level Dharra in Punjab but they are struggling with the Ticket Distribution.

The voting behaviour of Punjab is influenced by its local culture. The psychological attachment of a voter to a particular political party is almost non-existent (in rural areas esp). Ethnicity does NOT determine voting behaviour in Punjab. People cast their votes only to survive as a group, there is no concept of political fidelity among voters (and even many candidates). You won't come across a single person in rural Punjab telling you that he votes for PMLN as the leadership is Punjabi. Kashmiris/Butts are the only group here who vote for PMLN due to the Kashmiri ethnicity of Sharif family.

پاکستان کے سابق وزیراعظم میاں نواز شریف نے پاکستان کے عوام، سیاسی جماعتوں، صحافیوں اور تمام مکتبہ فکر کے لوگوں پر زور دیا ہے کہ وہ پاکستان کی اسٹیبلشمینٹ کے خلاف اٹھ کھڑے ہوں۔
لندن میں صحافیوں کے ساتھ گفتگو کرتے ہوئے ان کا کہنا تھا کہ پاکستان بننے کے ساتھ ہی اسٹیبلشمینٹ نے ملکی اور سیاسی معاملات میں مداخلت کرنا شروع کردی تھی اور جب تک یہ بند نہیں ہوتی ملک ترقی نہیں کر سکتا۔سابق وزیراعظم نے کہا کہ فوج کی موجودہ قیادت سے ان کا کوئی ذاتی جھگڑا نہیں ہے وہ صرف یہ چاہتے ہیں کہ سیاست اور حکومت کے معاملات میں مداخلت بند کی جائے، آئین کے دائرے میں سب اداروں کو کام کرنے کی اجازت دی جائے، انتخابات چوری نہ کئے جائیں اور ووٹ کو عزت دی جائے۔
پچھلے کچھ عرصے سے ان کے پاکستان جانے کے بارے میں افواہیں گردش کر رہی تھیں لیکن نواز شریف نے کہا کہ جب وقت آئے گا تو وہ انشا اللہ واپس بھی جائیں گے۔
جب ان سے افغانستان کے حالات کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا تو سابق وزیراعظم کا کہنا تھا کہ کیا یہ ضروری ہے ہم (پاکستان) ہر معاملے میں دخل دیں۔

گو پاکستان کی موجودہ حکومت کا دعویٰ ہے کہ وہ افغانستان کے اندرونی معاملات میں مداخلت نہیں کر رہی لیکن بظاہر میاں نواز شریف اس سے متفق نظر نہیں آتے۔ ’ان کا (افغانستان کا) حق نہیں کہ وہ اپنے فیصلے کریں، ہمیں کیوں انھیں بتانا ہے کہ وہ کیا کریں؟‘
انھوں نے کہا کہ ہمیں سوچنا چاہیے کہ افغان صدور حامد کرزئی اور اشرف غنی انڈیا سے تو خوش ہیں لیکن پاکستان سے نالاں۔
میاں نواز شریف نے کہا کہ انھوں نے سنہ 1999 سے جو بیانیہ اپنایا ہے اس پر قائم ہیں اور اس کو منطقی انجام تک پہنچائیں گے۔
کارگل کی لڑائی اور ڈان لیکس کے تناظر میں بات کرتے ہوئے نواز شریف نے کہا کہ انھوں نے کارگل کے خلاف بھی سٹینڈ لیا اور ہم نے شدت پسندی کے بارے میں جن اقدامات کا کہا وہ انھیں اب سب کرنے پڑ رہے ہیں۔
سابق وزیراعظم نے عدالت کی جانب سے نااہل قرار دیے جانے پر کہا کہ اب یہ واضع ہو چکا ہے کہ کون عدالتوں سے فیصلے کروا رہا تھا۔ ان کے مطابق جھوٹے کیسوں میں ان کو نااہل کروایا گیا اور وہ فیصلے اب واپس ہونے چاہئیں۔
میاں نواز شریف نے مشرقی پاکستان کے الگ ہونے کا الزام بھی اسٹیبلشمینٹ پر لگایا اور کہا کہ مجیب الرحمان کے چھ نکات ملک دشمن نہیں تھے۔ ان کے بقول ہم نے بنگالیوں کو الگ ہونے کے لیے مجبور کیا۔
سابق وزیراعظم نے ریٹائر لیفٹیننٹ جنرل عاصم باجوہ سمیت ان تمام سے رسیدیں دینے کا مطالبہ کیا جنھوں نے کروڑوں ڈالر کی جائدادیں بنائی ہیں۔
میاں نواز شریف نے اپنے دور کے بارے میں کہا کہ ملک بہت ترقی کر رہا تھا اور وہ اب جسے لے آئے ہیں اس نے ملک کی ہر شعبے میں تباہی کر دی۔۔ ’سوال یہ ہے انھیں لانے والے کس ایجنڈے کی تکمیل کے لیے انھیں لائے ہیں؟‘میاں نواز شریف نے میڈیا ہر مبینہ قدغنوں کی بھی مذمت کی اور کہا کہ سب کی آواز بند کی جارہی ہے لیکن ’ہم سر نہیں جھکائیں گے۔‘

- We should not interfere in Afghanistan. ---- Should we interfere in Afghanistan??
- Establishment should not indulge in political matters. ---- Should establishment indulge in political matters??
- We should do an analysis why our neighbors are not happy from us. ---- shouldn't we do this?? (Even China is not happy as we tried to bluff it in Dasu attack)
- We should reduce extremist elements. ---- Same thing we are doing now shouldn't we do this??

this is because the jacka*s is implying that we are/arent doing those things i.e.
- the jacka*s thinks we are interfering in afghanistan,
- he thinks the establishment is interfering in political matters (if it would have been, pml*n would have lost the cantt elections),
- no one bluffed it regarding china dasu attack,
- and the other neighbors are india and iran, the less said about them the better,
- and finally, the idiot thinks that we are not doing anything to reduce influence of extremist elements.

Above behavior is changing. I am from rural Hafiz Abad, and in my village and surrounding areas, people of my generation, 18-25 and even older all voted out pf above pattern. Going against families and pre aligned groups. It was a PMLN stronghold, now its feeling very shaky for them. They are still strong there even though they lost. But this isnt going to continue. There were cases where father was a PMLN candidate and son going to PTI or even independent. PPP is almost wiped out of the region. JI made a headway and are more visible there along with TLP. That was worrying.
