NEW YORK: Former chief of the army staff Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf has accused PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif of having amassed over $1 billion in ill-gotten wealth. The money stashed in bank accounts in London is looked after by his son.

Addressing a gathering of Pakistanis at a New Jersey hotel, he asserted that if he returns to power he would try the Sharifs in court of law.

When asked by a person in the audience why had he been keeping quiet about the alleged corruption of President Asif Ali Zardari who also bilked the country of billion of dollars, the former COAS noted: “The PPP government was under fire and I do not want to put more pressure on it.”

The former army chief who ousted Mr Sharif in a coup in 1999 observed that “Nawaz Sharif will never be allowed to assume seat of power in Pakistan after his confrontation with the army in 1999.”

For the second time in two days he severely criticised Mr Sharif

and said that after winning elections he would settle scores with him.

The former general rejected rumours about a split between his newly formed All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) and MQM. “We have no differences,”

The organisers of the event kept journalists away from the retired general and did not allow them to ask any question.

Musharraf needs to answer the primary question of what is sustaining him in london prior to lifting his fingers on others. As things go he is possibly the least corrupt option for pakistan, however I dont think he will come back. As to him accusing nawaz And not Zardari, why waste effort on a fallen horse? Who in their right mind will re elect Zardari. The only tangible threat is Nawaz. So his effrts now seem logical. He may also need Zardari's help in getting back which may be why he is going easy on him.
I dont think it will matter who comes in to power in the next elections. The political toilet needs to be flushed a couple of times before we will be rid of our loser politicians.

He is saying this after 11 years. Perhaps he should answer the question why such a corrupt leader was not held accountable when he took power with the promises of cleaning up the acts.

Politicians of Pakistan should be mandated to report ALL accounts overseas

They should also be held liable for any gifts given to their children and female counter parts (mothers , wives etc )

If their family members report 1 billion they must declare where they got this cash or go to prison or lose all these income

Musharaff makes close to 200,000 dollars per lecture second only to Bill Clinton in various institutions where he goes to speak.. and according to him most of his lectures are packed and booked throughout the year.
#There are some very prominent names on the panel of that society like Clinton, former president of the US, and Dr Mahathir Mohamad of Malaysia.

Clinton being the most expensive lecturer of that society charges $250,000 per lecture. Musharraf has been second highest lecturer now with $200,000 per lecture. Musharraf has been busy delivering lectures during the past one and a half years across the world.

He is booked for another six months as far as I know.
