Karachi - Shamsheer-e-Behr-V, Pakistan Navy, biennial war game gets underway after the opening session held here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila, Chief of the Naval Staff, accentuated the significance of war game in naval operational planning process for formulating new concepts and doctrines.
Rear Admiral Kaleem Shaukat, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations), presented an overview of war game outlining its objectives and concepts to be tried. The CNS expressed satisfaction in the realistic visualization of maritime scenario, in depth analysis and precision in decision making by force commanders who presented their detailed plans.
He emphatically referred to the importance of ensuring impregnable seaward defence and enhanced the relevance of Pakistan Navy towards emerging maritime security challenges. He added that Shamsheer-E-Bahr-V is basically a tri-service event, but representation of relevant ministries will further facilitate refinement of various concepts to be validated during Navy-wide field exercises before becoming part of naval operational plans.
Besides the PN, the event was attended by a large number of high-ranking officers from the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force and representatives of federal ministries.
