And why would Turkey represent the Middle East & North Africa? Apart from ottoman rule/ religion in some areas, Turks have nothing in common with those people. How can Turkey represent Iran for instance, and how is that fair?
Same with Brasil. You will let the only Portuguese country in America represent all the Spanish countries?
The world is not that united as you would like to see.

It's not about ethnicity or having much in common. Victors of WW2 setup the security council. World has changed today. It's about states that has strong economy that can best represent a region. Japanese are a minority in North East Asia but most nations would accept it representing Asia-Pacific due to it's strong economy & to some extent due to it's growing militaty strength. Australia/New Zealand would be seen as an extension of Europe (already represented by Britain, France), hence very unlikely be supported by any Asian nations.

Either Brazil (largest economy in South America) or Argentina would be a good candidate. But many nations in South America still views Argentina as being too euro-centric, hence Brazil might have a better chance.

If Iran was not under sanction, It might had the strongest economy in Mid East and North Africa. But it's economy is in shambles. Israel will not be accepted by anyone. Arabs have no concept of democracy and minus oil they barely have any economy. It lives only Turkey a democratic state with a flourishing economy and having good ties with all sides (Arabs, Iranians, Israel, EU & Russia) that might represent the region and would acceptable by the majority.

Same goes for sub-saharan Africa. Nigeria, South Africa or any other nation picked by Africans could represent that part of the continent.

This way entire humanity is represented. Offcourse that's utopian thinking. Very unlikely Washington will allow any expansion of the security council as that will sign decline of it's clout !

I dont agree. No country would like to give its power to another country. It woudnt matter for most countries if Japan has their vote or the USA if they cant make their own decisions.
“Nations have no permanent friends or allies, they only have permanent interests.” The only way to improve the current security counsel is if every country would like to give up their veto powers. And this can never happen because any idea to do so will get vetoed.

Btw Turkey and Japan are lone wolves in this world.

usa has 10 supercarriers and 6-7 medium carriers of the size of indian aircraft carrier.
They can fight 6-7 wars at the same time.

Plus they can print money with impunity without danger of inflation as dollar is the reserve currency of the world
Dude China have 6 Stealth fighters program going on while US has only one stealth fighter program.US should have made their F-16s,F-15s and FA-18s stealthy but they have invested 400 Billion in F-35 and now no one is buying it. :suicide:

India to join pro-Russia grouping
OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT
New Delhi, Sept. 12: A key strategic grouping of China, Russia and Eurasian nations closer to Moscow than to the West opened its door today to include India as a full member in a signal of defiance to the US where Prime Minister Narendra Modi heads later this month.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) that the US-led Nato views as a counterweight amended its rules at a summit of its presidents in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, to allow India, Pakistan, Iran and Mongolia to join as full members.

India also submitted an application for membership — a formality since the six-member SCO has unanimously decided to admit Delhi into the grouping, said a senior official who was involved in negotiations over the membership.

The SCO, started in Shanghai in 2001, currently counts China, Russia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan as members. India, Pakistan, Iran and Mongolia were till now observer states.

“We have till now participated in the SCO as an observer state,” foreign ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said. “But now, we have formally applied for full membership and believe we can contribute better as a full member.”

India had been seeking membership since 2005, when it joined as an observer state. While Russia and the Eurasian nations supported India’s candidature, China was opposed. That changed earlier this year, when Chinese President Xi Jinping told Modi in Brazil on the margins of a BRICS summit that Beijing would welcome greater Indian participation in the SCO.

For India, membership of the grouping will, among other things, open up access to Central Asian oil, natural gas and other resources, and to transportation routes SCO nations led by Russia and China are developing as counters to traditional, West-dominated trade corridors. India also wants to participate in the SCO’s Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure — a series of counter-terrorism exercises.

But India’s readiness to join the SCO will be viewed in Washington as a refusal by Modi to distance his government from Russian President Vladimir Putin, blamed by the US for the annexation of Crimea and the shooting down of a Malaysian plane in Ukraine.

American Congressmen have questioned the benefits of investing in relations with Delhi when it remains wedded to its traditional ties with Moscow.

“New Delhi has given Russia’s aggression in Crimea implicit approval and strongly opposed sanctions on Moscow, calling Moscow’s interests in Crimea legitimate,” Steve Chabot, the Republican chairman of a key foreign affairs panel of the US House of Representatives, told representatives of the Barack Obama administration in July.

“Can the US trust India to be a reliable partner on significant geopolitical challenges if, for example, we can’t get India’s support on this growing crisis?” Chabot asked.

India’s application to enter the SCO will be viewed as an answer.

at least four of Chinese fighters will enter service until 2025. (which include J-20,J-31,J-18,J-2X) against US F-35 which was supposed to enter service in 2013.:crazy_pilot:

I thought F-35 was supposed to have been operational in the early 2000s?

. .
Really in 2000s then why America is Investing in this project. This decision of American doesn't make sense ? :undecided:

Because they are developing technology, which can be used apart from this particular project. US has several known stealth programs going on (mostly unmanned). There might be more for all we know. The tech developed for one project, and they claim that several techs used in F35 are far advanced than F22, would immensely help the others.

JSF-35 Lightning II is an export plane which was estimated to be US 69 million but now it cost 125-150 million per piece whose going to buy it expect Israel. But they are also facing difficulties and only acquiring 20.Canada and Singapore have backed out and are not buying F-35s .And American are thinking of another way or another Aircraft because they have face serious criticism from their Parliament. And Parliament is not supporting F-35 anymore. As the American say "The Fighter which is eating America". They have lost 400 Billion Dollars in this project. :undecided:

Consider it a research budget. Even if this plane doesn't sales, all the technology will go in other machines. Why do you think after B2 and F22 they struggled for something like F35, despite much more money and resources? They tried to achieve a lot more than what they were capable of. And they were already very capable. That will give you an idea of how much went into F35s.
