Islamists protest NATO supply line in Pakistan - Asia news

LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) — Thousands of hardline Islamists streamed toward Pakistan's capital in a massive convoy of vehicles Sunday to protest the government's decision to allow the U.S. and other NATO countries to resume shipping troop supplies through the country to Afghanistan.

You don't raise stakes when all the cards are stacked against you. While NATO supply line was Pakistan's single trump card.. US had many under its disposal. Be it AID, IMF or influence on Saudis to handover Indian suspect. Pressure was too much.. Pakistan just couldn't sustain it any longer.
''Sorry'' was not even a face saver... There's a lot of difference between 'sorry' & 'apology'.. while one is offering condolence & other one is feeling regret. Can't see any regret from American side though..

It’s been over seven months since the tragic and regrettable Salala incident took place. It is no secret that our relationship was severely affected due to that incident. Our government officials from the highest level held several meetings during this period, but failed to find a resolution. We are glad to see that the ultimate goal of bringing peace and stability to the region prevailed once again, and both of our nations were able to reach a resolution and move forward. It was also easy to see that the terrorists were taking full advantage of our differences by infiltrating the region with their acts of terror. The need of the hour was to let bygones be bygones and focus on creating a healthy partnership for the sake of defeating these terrorists. We have come too far and made too many sacrifices to let our ultimate goal of stabilizing the region slip away. It is simply in the best interest of our nations to work side by side and eliminate the threat that’s preventing us from achieving our common objectives.
