A strong common strategic goal needs to be there for this organization to succeed. I could definitely see Sunni Muslim countries forming a NATO-style bloc Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Afghanistan, Oman, Algeria, Morocco, and others should be included. All countries provide an equal amount of soldiers, provide an equal percentage of funding per year, joint military ventures, joint military missions, etc. A common strategic goal could be to defend Muslim countries from foreign invasions.

First get the oil rich Arabs to share their wealth with the other poorer muslims.

As for the ummah forming a joint military like alliance - if it happens it will bring together a loose non muslim alliance against it.

A community which cannot agree if the moon has been sighted can hardly be expected to unite under any banner or orgnisation.

First of all stop fighting amons yourself. Then think of NATO like body.

It can only succeed if its an OIC lead force, properly trained, adequately funded and used only for peacekeeping and stabilization missions.



Europeans killed 40 million of each other before NATO became possible.

If you add up sore of Muslim death amongs infighting, It should be around that figure.

They already have a Sunni NATO with Saudi the de facto head. And Turkey (when its not still dreaming about entry into the EU) and Pakistan and Egypt are the major military powers of the Sunni NATO.

And a Shia NATO with Iran as the de facto head. And Iran the major military power.
