LONDON — After two years of civil war, support for the regime of
Syrian President Bashar Assad was said to have sharply increased.

NATO has been studying data that told of a sharp rise in support for Assad. The data, compiled by Western-sponsored activists and organizations, showed that a majority of Syrians were alarmed by the Al Qaida takeover of the Sunni revolt and preferred to return to Assad.

“The people are sick of the war and hate the jihadists more than Assad,” a Western source familiar with the data said. “Assad is winning the war mostly because the people are cooperating with him against the rebels.”

The data, relayed to NATO over the last month, asserted that 70 percent of Syrians support the Assad regime. Another 20 percent were deemed neutral and the remaining 10 percent expressed support for the rebels.

The sources said no formal polling was taken in Syria, racked by two years of civil war in which 90,000 people were reported killed. They said the data came from a range of activists and independent organizations that were working in Syria, particularly in relief efforts.

The data was relayed to NATO as the Western alliance has been divided over whether to intervene in Syria. Britain and France were said to have been preparing to send weapons to the rebels while the United States was focusing on protecting Syria’s southern neighbor Jordan.

A report to NATO said Syrians have undergone a change of heart over the last six months. The change was seen most in the majority Sunni community, which was long thought to have supported the revolt.

“The Sunnis have no love for Assad, but the great majority of the community is withdrawing from the revolt,” the source said. “What is left is the foreign fighters who are sponsored by Qatar and Saudi Arabia. They are seen by the Sunnis as far worse than Assad.”

very bad news for terrorists and their supporters.

in another news KSA showed his anger on delivery of S-300 to Syria and asked other Arab countries to close their embassies in Russia :omghaha:, which shows their strong ties with Israel.

what can I say? Hezbollat, Iranians, Iraqi, Houtis and SAA Alawis with air bombings, missiles, tanks, chemos etc are fighting the poorly armed FSA and foreign mujahideen with only hand held weapons and less used tanks? Anyway, the war isn't gonna finish in a month anyway, probably for another 5 years because you Shias are united but we aren't. This is a problem.

all the weapons in the world can't win the war of hearts and minds.
and yet after 2 years we are waiting for your evidence about the Iranian troops fighting in Syria.
GCC pigs, U.S ,Israel and Europe all together have brought every terrorists they could recruit from 29 different countries and you are complaining why Iran is helping Syrian government? your pro-Israel plan is doomed to fail and it's day will come Insha'allah.

wouldnt be surprised after what the fsa turds did with the shrines and cannibalism.... trying to shoot down airliners etc..

Let's slow down guys, maybe they were referring by the word "win" to his forces taking off (literally) Syrians' minds out of their heads and their hearts out of their chests, in that case yes he won their minds, hearts, eyes, heads and more of Syrians body origans. I hope that what they meant, otherwise this should be in the Guinness Book as the most ridiculous lie in history.

shias united what ? mr sectarian guy
i am anti Asad and i know a lot who share my opinion ... just go to balatarin if you speak farsi and you'll understand more about Iranians than fantasming what people think

problem is that Iranians don't like sectarian , they are not fanatic, so they hate the jihadists too

blame KSA and Qatar to have cheated the rebels by sponsoring the bad guys

I'm from aus and even I can see the FSA and the rest are mostly a bunch of extemists, I'm actually in support of Syria and Iran and i don't even like the leadership of either countries. Hezbollah can keep dying for all I care though.

The West is letting the political balance of the region get in the way of what is good and right, if anything this could of been a way of improving ties with Iran. I just hope we don't send any weapons after the EU made the stupid decision to lift the arms embargo.

In one sentence you denounce someone for not providing evidence to his claim.
In next you yourself write baseless claims!

Taking hypocrisy to the next level? or is there actually evidence that the USA, EU and Israel sent terrorists to Syria?

(please don't bring that lone citizen of USA that went on her own accord).

US training Syrian opposition forces in Jordan for months, sources say | Fox News

So these terrorists went there on their own, and found a weapon on the ground, and a U.S Specialist agent was present at the scene and said hey do you know how to use this weapon? let me teach you, and by the way if you are heading to Syria, this truck will get you there.:disagree:

you see, how f~cked up logic you have.

Fair point about the USA training camp I concede this. Never said I cannot be wrong :) and a thank you for providing me some new info. :)

You still have to provide similar info for EU and Israel to base your statement on facts.

As for the American fighter, I tend to ignore conspiracy theories. look she could have just as easily (more so actually) caught a plane to Turkey/Iraq/Jordan and joined the rebels. She wouldn't be the first person to do so.

Dude, drop it! No matter how hard you try to convince them, they won't understand. If they say Israel doesn't deserve to live then just ignore them and be it. Israel won't go anywhere but to exist.

@mohsen

Has the Russian missle defense system arrived yet?

On other note, just because someone said we should withdraw our ambassadors, it doesn't mean that they are siding with an A or B state. = /
