Pir Sayed Hamid Gilani the National Islamic Front leader Afghanistan stand's with Pakistan.
(Pajhwok): Some Wolesi Jirga or lower house members on Monday strongly condemned recent remarks by Pir Sayed Hamid Gilani and said the National Islamic Front leader wanted to ‘please’ Pakistan.
Gilani had two days earlier said: “We do not accept the rumors that Taliban leaders are somewhere else (Pakistan); they say this because of weakness. Because they (the Afghan government and the US) couldn’t do anything else, they lack ability and make pretexts. Most of Taliban leaders are inside Afghanistan.”
His remarks drew condemnation from a number of lawmakers. Mohammad Arif Rahmani, a public representative from southern Ghazni province, told today’s session: “Our leaders must not be spokesmen for the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan.”
“Gillani’s words are against the national interest. He should share the addresses of Taliban leaders in Afghanistan with detective and intelligence organs. Gilani must not favour Pakistan by his false words.”
Shakiba Hashimi, a legislator from Kandahar province, called Gilani’s remarks as unfortunate.” “Gilani eats the bread of Afghanistan, but he works for objectives of others.”
Another public representative, Saheb Khan, hailing from Logar province, said: “Fighters of Taliban exist in Afghanistan, it is true because they are here for fight; but their hideouts and sanctuaries are in Pakistan and are commanded from there.’
Addressing Gilani, he said: “It is shameful to deceive your own people for others. The US has suspended aid to Pakistan because the country harbors leaders of anti-Afghan government insurgent groups and supports terrorism; but now he (Gilani) stands up and defends the interests of Pakistan.”
Ghulam Hussain Nasiri, a public representative from Maidan Wardak province, said Gilani remarks came at a time when the US had increased pressure on Pakistan.
“The Afghanistan intelligence chief should be summoned to clarify with whose money this program (the gathering held by Gilani) was organized and who was behind it.”
Wolesi Jirga speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi said: “I am against the remarks by Gilani. His remarks were in contrast with national interests. I am sorry that a Jihadi family and leader turns a blind eye to the reality.”
