About 10 times as effective as SAA and on par with jihadists who are also ideological and would rather fight to the death than surrender. It's interesting to note that both NDF and jihadists fight for socialism, the only difference is one is modern age and the other is dark age, one is Arab socialism and the other is sharia. Both despise social inequality. Under both Arab socialism and sharia, there is no rich or poor, all men are equal. Likewise, Germany's national socialism and the USSR's communism both despised social inequality and both were highly ideological and motivated in battle.

Like SS, NDF takes no prisoners. A large part of NDF is made up of former shabiha militia which are notorious in battle. SS, NDF, Popular Mobilization Forces are all known to have committed large scale massacres. Indeed, in this respect, one can see that NDF is equivalent to Ukraine's National Guard, which was resurrected last year and a large part of which are former rioters who participated in the Maidan revolution.

We cant compare the NDF and Waffen SS, the NDF lacks in diciplin, courage and leadership, they are not capable for conducting large scale Operations ! Other Wise they would have not lost the City Aleppo this year ! I dont want underestimate the NDF but they are fare away from the Fighting machine Waffen-SS !

I don't know too much about the NDF to make a comparison between the two. But the NDF do seem very fanatical. They must be recruited from the Syrian minorities who have the most to lose should Assad's government collapse and the opposing forces take over which IMO explains their fanatical resistance to FSA and other opposition groups.

Half of Sunnis are pro government. Half of Sunnis are pro jihadists. Pro jihadists Sunnis fight each other and the government. All the minorities like Shia, Christians, Druze are pro government. Pro government people don't fight each other and only fight pro jihadists Sunnis. Kurds fight pro jihadists Sunnis and are more or less neutral about the government.

The fact that NDF does not run away at the sound of the first shot, does
not mean that they are any good at Combined Arms operations.

Syria always got beaten before, not with a worn down government,
why would such a force be any better?

Have they actually accomplished anything that would brand them as an elite unit,
on the International Level?

Of the 1 million Waffen SS troops, only 250,000 were from Germany proper. The rest 750,000 were foreign volunteers, most of whom never even visited Germany. Not sure how they could be "brainwashed" in that case.

All of them fought for common ideals, and for a common cause, namely against the spread of international Communism.

If you study the early communist revolutions you will see striking parallels with today's international extremist movement's like ISIS.

Just as ISIS wants the overthrow every government in the region and ultimately the entire world, so too did international Communism aspire to achieve "world revolution" by overthrowing all governments in the world.
