hahahah..aaj khana khaya? @Mani2020 :rolf:

I've a got a good use for ya.

Answer this.......\/\/\/ :D

When you people alter a crop's genome or genetically engineer it towards pest resistance or against other agents.Does it modify the genome to the extent that it's kind of a compromise on taste ,or the mineral constituents of the end product.....or does it remain the same... i mean can the expression of certain genes,makes other to go in the background.....or it doesn't happen at all, can you avoid it and via which methods ?

Thanks G...:)

@S.U.R.B.
1st it depends on the change...how much of the gene area was changed....sometimes it is specific to 1 gene other times it depends on linkage

well, genes are related, let me talk in terms of crossing over which is random...but the thing it depends on the gene within the recombinant area...so lets say the taste gene is near the modified gene or even dependent on the modified gene..and they are linked---alteration will cause changes in the taste

IF they are close together than they are brought fwd to the progeny together called as linkage the LD can be calculated and approximation methods can be used to insure some specifications but nothing is 100%....mostly specific genes are targeted and hence others THEORETICALLY should not be altered UNLESS, there is some sort of gene affect where 1 gene change affects the function of the other....Which usually is studied and doesnt pose a prob.
@S.U.R.B. make sense?
