The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has been awarded the ID Outstanding Achievement Award 2009 by the ID World Congress for issuing cards to 300,000 internally displaced persons in a short spanof time during the military operation.
The Nadra beat four other nominees all from the United States. The award was conferred on Deputy Chairman Nadra, Tariq Malik, at a ceremony in Milan, Italy, by the ID World Congress, said a press release issued on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Malik said that Pakistan had the largest biometric database of over 100 million citizens and the country was moving forward by incorporating latest technologies to bridge the development gap.
