NA goes haywire on Kalabagh Dam Issue

@Armstrong Isn't there an override function by the federal Govt ? My sleep deprived brain cant seem to think of any , at the moment .

The Federal Government could've done that a myriad times but the Sindhi Nationalists, the Pukhtoon Nationalist & I think maybe the MQM even along with a few mainstream parties threaten everything from the KBD being made in Punjab on the dead bodies of Pukhtoons or rip up half the State Infrastructure in their Province to that the country will break apart & so the Federal Government all the time says 'Ok....no Dam till everyone agrees' !

No one has yet !

Musharraf was in a position to opt for Kalabagh Dam after 9/11, but he chickened out.

Financially we were in an ideal situation to build the Dam back then but like a FOOL he backed off.

Actually its only the Sindhi nationalists whom I think , see a problem with the dam , not anybody else . You see and fear more when there's less which is why the project remains stuck , I really do not think the situation is that worse .

KALA Bagh Dam is not a question but is an answer to our three problems, namely, shortage of water, shortage of electricity and devastating effects of floods. If somebody insists that it is a question, than certainly it is not a political question but at the most it is an engineering question.

Whether, Nowshera will be inundated with the construction of Kala Bagh Dam is an engineering question. The height of spillway of Kala Bagh Dam is 910 feet from the sea level whereas, the height of Nowshera is 945 feet and Mardan’s height is 970 feet. Hence, there is no fear that Nowshera will go under the water.

Kala Bagh dam is the lifeline of Pakistan’s Agricultural and Industrial Economy and it must be built..!!!

Pakistan has too many jahils. This is just a simple example.

Please have a look at this statement also...

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that his party has been opposing the Kalabagh dam project and would do so even after the Supreme Court orders its construction, Geo News reported on Saturday.

Speaking at a party gathering, Khan said that their was no justification for the construction of the controversial dam after the three provinces had rejected it.

He said that the ANP would contest election on the basis of its performance and it didn’t need and alliance with any other political party.

Speaking on the occasion, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti said that the dam could not be constructed at any cost.

Is there some petition/case in Supreme Court too ? I am really surprised but then ANP isn't even in power at the moment nor seems to come again for the forseeable future .

.
Our national assembly is a joke

The only thing they agree is on offering Fatiah to Islamists and Mullahtics like bin fing laden, and Mola mullah types.

Do not expect these buffoons to come together for building our nation.

Please do not.

Since you have again successfully brought mullah bashing in this thread too. I would like to mention that it is the so called secular parties of Pakistan(PPP, ANP, Sindhi nationalists) who oppose the construction of Kalabagh dam. So it is actually secular and liberals who are against Kalabagh dam and not Mullahs.

Please don't be the defender of Mullahs.

I was specifically talking about National Assembly's resolutions and their unity on Islamist stuff

and

their utter failure on development stuff.

national assembly is what it is and it is composed of all parties.

Thank you

This is an old statement of AWK, when they in power. (December 08, 2012)

National assembly did nothing wrong on that particular resolution about Abdul Qadir Mullah. About other issues I accept that it has failed on law making and development stuff.

You should hear the ANP some time !

In fact even the Baluch Nationalists pitched in with their 'No KBD Slogan' - What is the Urdu phrase for it ? Beganiii Shaadiii Mein Abdullah...something !
