N. Korea Confident of China Rocket Support

What I don't get is somehow the Chinese think they are " cool" or are should be seen as being " cool" by the rest in the civilized world for supporting yet another pariah in the world?

Blame it on the combination of the Great Firewall of China, the CCP control of education and news media, and the CCP net monitors who spread propaganda. They really do believe foreigners worship China, and that Hong Kongese and Taiwanese girls are eager to marry mainland guys because they come from the Great China. They only find out the truth when they have a rare opportunity to travel outside of China.

LOL at the indian-American and Korean-American. Products of USA imperialism and subjugation of india and South Korea respectively. They worship their white American masters and think they are better than a truly sovereign country like China!

Proud to be Chinese! :china: In your face, haters!

I've a question, what does the Chinese government think will happen after the North Koreans test their SLV? What information does China have about the new leader of NK? What is their assessment about him?

I'm sure the Chinese government appreciates the risks involved in the North Korean launch. The worse case scenario is probably Japan or South Korea trying to shoot it down, successfully or not. Even if the shot is successful, I don't think the Chinese government expects that this will lead North Korea to attack South Korea or Japan.

I don't know how China views the new leader of North Korea specifically. Probaby a 20-something year old doesn't actually wield much power but rather his uncle or somebody like that does with the consensus of senior military and civilian leaders in North Korea. In general, China tries to work with North Korea as much as possible because both have an interest in resisting USA, Japan, South Korean strategic pressure.

Overall, the bottom line that the Chinese government should be betting on is that if war happens on the peninsula, PLA is strong enough to totally dominate all land forces possibly deployable by USA, Japan and South Korea, effectively wiping out the state of South Korea from existence. After all, China now has the most advanced Type 99A3 tanks in its elite tank divisions on the North Korean border, backed up by WZ-10A combat helicopters, WS-2D artillery rockets and HQ-16 medium range field SAMs.

In fact, there is a question whether PLA would stop at Pusan in the event of a second Korean war, or whether they would continue by launching amphibious attacks on Japanese home islands and Okinawa to push out the USA from East Asia completely.

The US is inciting Japan to shoot down the NK SLV and Japan will definitely try it. The US is trying to lure NK into a showdown. I won't be surprised if the US manages to convince india to open another front to keep China occupied or may be the game plan is to keep China busy in the Korean peninsula. Recently South Korea has warned that it would attack the residence of the NK leader if NK attacked Seoul. This aggressive posture by the South is a sign that the US is looking for a fight. All this is happening when it seems that there's a power struggle going on in the CCP. The US is also involved in inciting a revolt against Putin in Russia. In a nutshell, the US feels that time is running out and it must act now to contain China and her allies and this has made the US and its minions so desperate.

There is no power struggle in the CCP. Xi Jinping is firmly in power. There is only some internal debate as to who will be #2, but #1 is fixed already.

USA is looking for a fight. But it is too weak. All China needs to is severely punish any one of the hostile countries like Vietnam, india, Philippines, South Korea or Japan with our military and USA will appear weak and helpless. They might try to interdict our oceanic supply routes, especially through the india ocean, but China can strike back by invading Vietnam and Philippines with PLA ground forces and securing oil resources by land.

In a war, everybody will suffer, but China will make sure it does not suffer the worst. Most likely it will be China's hostile neighbors who suffer the most.

I hope he is not a dove like Hu Jintao and Wen.

There is news that reported a coup attempt by the indian army. Of course, both the indian government and the indian army are denying that it was a coup attempt. But the fact is two armoured units were advancing towards Delhi without prior notice, so things are not really that nice in the so-called 'largest democracy'. China should do what the US has been doing for decades, it should encourage change of regimes that are minions of the US and hostile towards China and her allies. The US should be made to taste its own medicine.

This. Young Master Kim is not calling the shots.

Why? Look at all the bad publicity the Americans got for doing so. In the short term, China would benefit but in the end they eventually lose.

Then who's calling the shots? It looks like they (whoever is calling the shots) are about to launch not only a SLV but they are about to test the third nuke. I don't think they have much faith in uncle sam's promises.

Why are you so frightened by that possibility. I didn't know that the Canadians(uncle sam's allies) were so concerned about China's reputation!
