Hi jaunty! Thanks! The garden is now under a little renovation to prepare for the next garden competition in May next year. New lawns being laid. I'm screwed as my bank balance is heading South! Jeeez! :undecided:

Really nice whiskey should always be had neat. No rocks. That's how you get the real flavor.

Normal whiskey its ok to dilute with some water/soda and loads of ice.

Especially when you need to nurse a drink for some time in a crowd.

Good whiskey is best had in solitude with very select company.

No shor sharaba. No Bappi Lahiri/Bhangra rap/House/Techno/fill in the blanks please.

Well once I get my kicks I love me some Led Zep though :)

@Op:

nice bar, i wanna have something like that when im older. I thought it's a water pipe on the left side, but it was a lamp only.

if you need any tricks on mixing cocktails and/or high alc. volume drinks, post in here, i was proffesional barman in a pretty posh night club for about 6 years in my 20's.

Apart from the occasional Jack and coke, I am fully with you... ;)

That's Johnnie Walker Black Label it appears...

Why is the gun not falling down, the way its placed on the table ...

It's balanced on the center of gravity....though a few more centimeters towards the camera guy and it would have fallen.

@ Whiskey afficionados:

Whiskey and coke were put together because youngsters couldnt handle the whiskey burn on its own, but wanted to be all grown up and cool drinking it.
And i agree, really good whiskey is to be drank on it's own.

I dont think a bar has to be strictly limited to alcohol..
After all.. I would want a bar.. but one from which I can make all the smoothies/Shakes and fresh ground coffee I want.
Just the difference in the sort of drinks being served..
A lot of homes in Pakistan now have bars that do just that..
Although some do still sneak in the occasional famous grouse.. and have it with coke on the rocks.

Not only that, but a peg or two of rum or whiskey with a bottle of coke is excellent camouflage too! "Ah, my lil boy is havin' coke, see? No bad habits!" When all the time the little bugger is getting pissed on that whiskey camouflaged with coke!!! Sheeesh! :alcoholic:

A good start...are you in the US? I always need a new couch to crash on (travel on the cheap). Aryan_b has a place in the UK...crash pads in the US and India always nice.

@vsdoc. Sahebji Doc, let me add one thing. Adding ice to whisky was an innovation that was created in the Colonies. Because of the tropical heat. Otherwise whisky was preferably had neat. AFAIK, the soda bit was another innovation in British India, largely because the water was not always considered to be safe.

Agreed. There is also a school of thought that says you chill the glasses before hand in the freezer - preferably stuffed with ice cubes.

Then empty the cubes out before pouring in the whiskey over the now chilled glass.

They say it "opens" out the inner normally masked background flavors of the whiskey.

And the whiskey color also changes subtlely - becomes slightly smoky.

Don't know about the last part - my untrained eye could not appreciate it.

But I do like to sip whiskey neat and enjoy the after burn.

Though not too much.

As an example, I prefer the normal Black Label over the pricier Double Black.
