Shahi Imam of Tipu Sultan Mosque Maulana Nurur Rehman Barkati on Tuesday said that if any Muslim joins or works for RSS and BJP then he will be ousted from the Muslim community and will be beaten up. However he did not clarify whether it was a fatwa. Barkati also said that those who chant “Jai Sri Ram” outside mosques were “Hijras” (eunuch).

Accusing BJP and RSS of creating troubles in West Bengal ahead of Shab-e-Barat, Barkati during a news conference at Press Club Kolkata said, “If any Muslim joins or works for RSS and BJP then we will punish them. We will severely beat them up and out them from Islam. They can work for other parties but not for RSS and BJP. IF BJP distances itself from RSS then they can work for BJP. Since BJP is working with RSS, any association with them by a Muslim will attract punishment.” Barkati also urged all secular Hindus to come together and face RSS and BJP.

“RSS has been attacking Muslims so they cannot be a part of this organisation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should remember that he is not only a worker of RSS but protector of India. He must not speak against Islam,” he said. Asked whether he was issuing a fatwa, Barkati said it was just a warning.

Intensifying his attacks against BJP and RSS combine, Barkati said, “Those who chant Jai Sri Ram outside Mosques are hijras (eunuch). It is the work of hijras. I do not know how long Muslims will keep quiet.”

He also spoke in favour of triple talaq and said a lot of politics was going on in Muslim Personal Law Board. “Muslim Personal Law Board should fight Shariyat. They have been divided over triple talaq. Some are against triple talaq while other half is supporting it. This should be sorted,” he said

Those who chant Jai Shri Ram are Ram bhakts. Their sexual preferences should be of no concern to the Islamic Imam.

Indian police have detained four members of a hardline Hindu militia founded by the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh on suspicion of killing a Muslim man who had helped an interfaith couple elope, an investigating official said on Wednesday.

A 60-year-old farmer was killed on Tuesday by a mob that included members of the Hindu Yuva Vahini, or Hindu Youth Force, set up by Yogi Adityanath, a priest recently named by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lead India’s most populous state.

Adityanath, backed by his volunteer force, spearheaded the campaign of Modi’s Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in this year’s Uttar Pradesh state polls, helping to secure a landslide victory in the northern state.

Since his appointment, units of the Hindu Yuva Vahini have ramped up their anti-Muslim rhetoric and launched a campaign against so-called “Love Jihad” – what they regard as an Islamist strategy to convert Hindu women through seduction and marriage.

“The case of a Hindu girl eloping with a Muslim boy led to religious tension and members of the Hindu Yuva Vahini declared it was Love Jihad,” said Jagdish Sharma, a police officer leading investigations in Bulandshahr district, 70km to the southeast of India’s capital New Delhi.

“The Muslim farmer was beaten to death in a mango orchard after he refused to share the whereabouts of the couple,” said Sharma.

The spokesman of the Hindu Yuva Vahini, PK Mall, denied that any members of Adityanath’s youth force had been involved in the attack.

“We don’t want Muslims to convert Hindu girls but we are not involved in any criminal activity,” he told Reuters. “There is a clear conspiracy to insult Yogi Adityanath and our religious group.”

Adityanath, who heads a Hindu sect based in eastern Uttar Pradesh, has a history of rabble-rousing street politics, and his sudden rise to political prominence has stoked tensions with Muslims who make up 19% of Uttar Pradesh’s 220 million people.

Since his appointment, members of the Hindu Yuva Vahini have called on police to enforce a ban imposed by Adityanath on illegal slaughterhouses and taken action to halt sales of meat from unlicensed butchers’ shops run by Muslims.

There is already a RSS muslim wing with good number of muslims, I can't remember of a muslim name in RSS who holds a prominent position in either RSS organisation or elsewhere.

And I don't think, RSS would even entertain a muslim in a position of prominence within their organisation. At least going by their history. This is what one of their founding father has to say

"Here was Golwalkar's solution to the minorities problem: the "foreign elements'' (Christians and Muslims) may "live at the mercy'' of the "national race (Aryan Hindus) as long as the national race may allow them to do so and to quit the country at the sweet will of the national race. Kolkata: Days after asserting that it was his 'right' to use the red beacon on his vehicle as the permission was allotted to him by the British government, the Shahi Imam of Tipu Sultam Masjid on Saturday finally removed the 'lal batti' from his vehicle.

"No, there was no political pressure on me to remove the red light. How will political parties put pressure on me? I am the Shahi Imam and will follow the law," Maulana Noor-ur Rehman Barkati said.

A senior officer of Kolkata traffic police said that the Imam had removed the red beacon of his own volition.

On Thursday, the clergyman had said, "I am a religious leader and I have been using the red beacon for decades. I do not follow the orders of the Centre. Who are they to order me? In Bengal, only the orders of the state government are effective. I will use the red beacon."

The Centre, seeking to put an end to 'VIP culture', had decided that red beacons would be removed from all vehicles, including that of the prime minister, from May 1.

On Wednesday, a police compliant was filed against Barkati by BJP leader Suraj Kumar Singh for not complying with the central government's order on the use of red beacon.

The ban applies to all union ministers, Chief Ministers, state Cabinet ministers, bureaucrats and judges of the High Court and Supreme Court while President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of Indian and the Lok Sabha Speaker are exempted from the ban.

Defying the Centre's order, Barkati had earlier said that he would continue to use the red beacon as the permission for it was given by the erstwhile "British Government".

"I will remove red beacon once everyone does the same. I will continue to use as I have got permission from British government," Barkati said.

He further said that he has been using the red beacon for decades and wouldn't take orders from the Centre.

On Friday, an FIR was also lodged against Maulana Barkati after a BJP leader Suraj Kumar Singh registered a complaint against him for not complying with the Centre's ban on the use of the red beacon.

The Central Government imposed a ban on use of red beacon on vehicles attached to dignitaries from May 1.

The ban applies to union ministers, chief ministers, state cabinet ministers, bureaucrats and judges of the High Court and Supreme Court while President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of India and the Lok Sabha Speaker are exempted from the ban.
