Anybody who flies American Airlines out of Miami often enough will sympathize because that's how bad AA's service is at that hub, whether it's in MIA or inside the aircraft: AA pilots openly complain to their passengers about the crappy ground crews there, and it casts a gloom over the other employees as well. Complain about the delay too loudly and they may kick you off the aircraft for "threatening" the crew. I nearly saw it happen to a little old lady a few months ago but a fellow passenger managed to defuse the situation.
(BTW, the $200 credit and $24 food voucher was a lot more than American offered another passenger I met who had been delayed eight hours: AA offered her only a $6 voucher for food.)
