I remember watching CNN during the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, the yanks had just captured Baghdad, they made their way into a high end Baghdad hotel and started to push their way around the place, Iraqi women and children were in a terrible state with tears flooding down from their innocent and helpless faces, it was truly gut wrenching to watch those arrogant Yanks behaving like conquerors, having watched those scenes, I immediately thanked All Mighty ALLAH for blessing the Pakistani nation with patriot scientists/engineers such as Dr AQ Khan who have ensured that NO army on the face of this Earth can capture Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, for if any potential adversary (And I mean any!) has any such foolish illusions, we will make them experience temperatures that exceed those at the centre of a star, all thanks to patriotic scientists like Dr AQ Khan.Kudos bro

Dr.A.Q.Khan's Centrifuge design P-1 was a commercial venture which he exported. Centrifuges are not just used for Atom bombs, these are also used for medical isotope separation such as those used in CT scans and of course for making Uranium for power plants.

I agree Musharraf is a bloody liar, in fact one only has to read his book of self aggrandizement "In the line of fire", I was astonished to hear some of his outlandish claims, he immediately lost all credibility in my eyes their and then, I recall reading the chapter on nuclear proliferation, Mushy stated that the head of the CIA, had a one on one meeting with him, where the head of the CIA had shown Mushy technical drawings of centrifuges, Mushy claimed that he "IMMEDIATELY" recognized these as Pakistani centrifuges my instant reaction was, how on Earth could this non technical person Mushy immediately ascertain whether these were centrifuges let alone Pakistani centrifuges secondly Mushy claimed that during the Kargill war Pak had not achieved nuclear weaponisation which the Yanks had assumed we did, God only knows the truth as Gen Hamid Gul and Aslam Baig all claimed Pak had weaponised it's devices during their tenure, whatever the truth Mushy had harmed the nature of our detterence, for this I can never ever forgive him, he should be shown the gallows.

I agree that the central role was that of the Generals but AQ Khan was part and parcel of it. He also earned the black money from the sale of nuclear technology. He had his cut.

He is not some poor retired government servant dependent on pension, that he pretends to be. He is eligible for Oscar Awards. He is a full-blown drama queen.

However, AQ Khan always had the habit of punching above his weight. He attempted to subvert the efforts of the PAEC and its scientists.

He even tried to steal warhead designs from the PAEC to claim that they were made by Kahuta Research Laboratories. His disdain for Dr. Samar Mubarak Mand is well known, even in print and electronic media.

Such over ambitious people would often land in trouble.

Points 1 & 2, there's no doubt that AQK was/ is a Patriot and willing to sacrifice everything for his motherland. I never questioned that. Point 3, where would AQK have gone? Lets say he wanted to leave in 1999/2000, if conspiracy theories are to be believed that "Islamic nations" shouldn't have the bomb where would he have been safe? In Mecca? Baghdad? Tehran? AQK was stuck in Pakistan the minute he brought technology to Pakistan.

I questioned his involvement. He had the prestige in Pakistan to be able to stand up to the idiots who wanted to proliferate technology. Be it that Pakistan and India have weaponized program but every nation thus far has been apart of the global community. If Pakistan proliferated to Australia or Brazil there wouldn't have been as much of a blacklash as to N. Korea. I know the differences in the uranium and plutonium base between Pakistan and N.Korea.

Like it's been stated in Post #19 the dual use ability of centrifuges. Musharraf's too much of an idiot to know anything about nuclear tech, AQK isn't... wasn't. He had the prestige and was idolized, what were the shadows going to do kill AQK? If he was afraid to die then why did he jump start Pakistan's nuclear program anyways?
