‘Musharraf reconciled to exit’

Nawaz himself a PROTEGE of military and it is said that "People living in glass houses shouldn't throw stones at others"!

Nawaz was sitting in Dubai looking after his abbajee's businees when General Intiaz approached him asked him to come to Pakistan. General Jillani and General Zai-ul-Haq groomed him and Lt Gen Hameed Gul made the IJI with objective to provide political support to Taliban and against PPP. What moral grounds does he have against Military???

Nawaz fought with two Presidents: Ghulam Ishaq Khan and Leghari.

Nawaz fought with 4 Army Chiefs: General Asif Nawaz (over Operation clean-up) and General Kakar (in his fight with Ghulam ishaq) and General Jehangir Karamat (over his idea of National Security Council) and General Musharraf (when he appointed a ISI Ziauddin Butt as COAS)

Nawaz fought with Supreme Court Chief Justice: Sajjad Shah ! Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah was forced to proceed on leave December 2, 1997; and Justice Ajmal Mian, the senior-most Judge, was sworn in as Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Nawaz’s power tussle with his own PML leaders began: After Nawaz by-passed Party regulations to make his brother Shahbaz Sharif the Chief Minster of Punjab. His uncle as President of Pakistan: Rafiq Tarar. His relative Ishaq Darr: as Finance Minister. This disappointed many senior party leaders.

Nawaz's TUSSLE with PUBLIC: Nawaz Government PROCLAIMED EMERGENCY on May 28, 1998; the day Nuclear tests were conducted. All fundamental rights were suspended and all the foreign currency accounts worth $ 10 billion, in Pakistani banks were frozen.

Does this man stand to Qualify as anything Pakistani?

The petitions were filed in 1995. The department had assessed the liabilities of the Ittefaq Group and its directors at Rs 20 million, but the assessment was raised to Rs 400 million during the first tenure of Benazir Bhutto. During the first tenure of Nawaz Sharif, the department reduced the tax to Rs 20 million on an appeal by the family. During the second tenure of Benazir, the department increased the tax to Rs 650 million.

Federal Investigation Agency, that said the Sharif family was involved in tax evasion, loan defaults and had “phantom” bank accounts. Included in these documents are 4 apartments in London’s exclusive Mayfair district, worth over US$ 5 million, accounts and companies controlled by the then Prime Minister’s family worth more than US$ 70 million.

More than 80 complaints of corruption and misuse of authority were pending at different stages of inquiry, investigation and trial against former PM Nawaz Sharif when he was granted pardon by the president and exiled.

The complaint said Nawaz Sharif did not mention in his declaration of assets in the nomination form for NA-12 in 1997 that he owned a helicopter. It was alleged that he did not pay duties of Rs30 million on this machine.

• The Nawaz family which is now one of the richest in the country due largely to the largesse of pakistani banks has unveiled its one billion rupee Raiwind Complex. Spread over an area of around a thousand acres it houses palatial residences, a 300 acre farm, a 500 bed hospital, a school, a medical teaching facility, 200 acre dairy farm, 350 line exchange, Polytechnic institute, Nursing and Midwifery school etc. The sharifs who must really be minting money have built it all in 17 months at a cost of Rs 740 million. The punjab govt headed by a sharif has chipped in by providing govt funded roads and forcibly purchasing land for papa. Pakistan and Politics

Why wouldn't the LOYAL and Professional ARMY kick-out this corrupt and immoral DEMON-CRAZY DICTATOR???

.
One month earlier GEO RUMORED that the Army chief has locked President in President House. For which, Musharraf has to issue statement "This is joke of highest order".

The result: KHI Stock fell by 500 points!

Three days before GEO again rumored that President is about to take off any minute from Chaklala air base.

The result: KHI stock again fell by 500 points!

Great service these GEO type foreign funded channels are doing to country and nation! One should what they are doing sitting in Dubai MEdia City ruled & managed by Indians!

Investors flying off. Rupee devalued. Inflation high. Political destabilization. KHI stock falling. Economics hurt. Politics of REVENGE only on minds and heart!

. .
Yes I am sure it does. How about putting that hypocrite Nawaz Sharif on trial for all the corruption first? Lets talk about justice through and through. Why start with Musharraf and Shaukat Aziz only??

Its your misfortune that you can't see the night and day difference in the personal integrity of Musharraf vs. the corrupt thieves like Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari. If you want to bring someone to the courts for a trial, I suggest you start with NS and AZ first. I am sure that will take a couple of years to go through their corruption charge sheets.

Cent per Cent agreed my dear friend, but who is going to do this? i already know that most of the politicians are corrupt but there is not a single institution to put a check on them, NAB was used to blackmail and only was to get a chunk from the LOOTED stuff from this poor nation, Who is going to put an end to this " Billi kay galay main ghantee koun baandhay ga? " Our nation is unable to produce heroes anymore...........
Dont know what is going to happen, anyways there is always a silver line in the dark clouds but right now i am unable to find one, either it is not there or i have a sighting problem

Regards

Spare me one single politician that has not used his powers for his personal interest and you are only after nawaz sharif and family, dear friend all of them, i insist all of them are corrupt, they are serving themselves, musharaf has lost his respect and his track as well, we are a dieing nation, with no hope, believe me sitting abroad and having beautiful dreams that everything was fine in the mushy era were fine is not correct, ask some ordinary man about his sufferings he will tell you the truth, Pakistaniz are helpless people and all due to our own deeds, Democracy is not the answer to our suffering, we must change the system

. .
i do not think so ,i believe pakistan people are great people ,they will do right choice for themselves.

.
One wonders what is right?

Those who are of the opinion that Musharraf has done Pakistan well have an opinion and those who feel that there should be democracy too have and opinion.

Each feel they are right.

Thus the Pakistani people have different views.

Therefore, what is the right thing that they are being said they will do?

Musharraf has done well and there should be democracy too.

Every thing in its own time.

Musharraf's time is past - this may not have much to do with Musharraf's flaws, but it is not Musharraf's qualities alone that are paramount.

The dynamics within Pakistan, and global dynamics, have necessitated this change, and his presence is quickly becoming fodder for anarchists.

Thank you for your services Mr. President.

It is time for a new president.

True.

That is your view.

There is also the view that he should hang on as the politicians will be back to their old time tested tricks.

Therefore, only time will tell and Pakistani people as a whole cannot really decide as to doing ''the right thing'', since there is nothing like a ''right thing'' when the Pakistani people hold divergent views, as even in this forum.

Here is what a report has to say:

Musharraf rejects talk of retirement | World news | The Guardian

I thought the poster has some news that indicates the ''right thing''.

Right now, the media is merely speculating.

Sixty years after independence we're still wondering what's the right thing to do? If we still haven't figuered it out we never will! :undecided:

If Musharraf serves out his term as President then the only thing that will happen is that the politicians will be back to their tricks in five years, if they aren't already.

The advantage to Musharraf staying was that it would provide a semblance of stability for a country that would be transitioning back to full civilian control. Musharraf was a familiar face for the world and we knew what policies he supported, economic and strategic.

If worst came to worst, he was to be the fall back option in case of a failed transition. That was the biggest advantage to him staying on.

Unfortunately his continued stay in power serves to do the opposite of what was envisioned. Nawaz Sharif has scented blood and sensed the shifts in the political winds, and is pursuing a policy that will, if successful, get him both revenge and the publics adoration - and if not revenge then at the very least a surge in popularity that will propel him to victory in the next elections.

The media, led by a complete discarding of any journalistic ethics and adoption of rumor mongering and speculation in place of "news", has served to exacerbate the problem. However, bar imposing some sort of draconian restrictions on the free media, which will lead to its own monster of instability, pounced upon by Nawaz Sharif , there is nothing to do but to let the institution of the media mature and evolve at its own pace.

So in this scenario, what can Musharraf do?

His presence is fueling the instability, not calming it. In a couple of months, he could announce on his own terms that he was stepping aside in the best interests of the country, and therefore achieve some sort of a "dignified exit", but Nawaz is going to ensure that till then he keeps sounding the drum beat of "treason" and keeps the pressure up on both the PPP and Musharraf

If there was ever a reason to not like Nawaz, this is it. He has proven himself to be a stubborn, self centered ideologue. I suspect that his desire for revenge from Musharraf isn't merely limited to the fact that his government was overthrown by Musharraf, but also because Musharraf planted the seeds of moderation that I believe run counter to Sharif's own more extreme positions. Remember his attempt to crown himself amir-ul-momineen, and his party's vote against the reforms proposed in the Hudood ordinance.

He is Zia's protege, and an Islamist at heart, nothing possibly rankles him more than the direction Musharraf has led the country in.

If only to not give Nawaz Sharif a victory in the elections in five years, it is essential that Musharraf not give him too much ammunition against the PPP by staying too long.

Sixty years of a discontinuity Neo.

Even now people are starting to ask for Martial Law/Coup's again.

So long as we do not allow a system, as flawed as it is, to function and evolve, we will keep repeating your refrain every sixty years.

You see this is where the fault lies. I mean why should we call on the Army. I think if we just made the right decisions during election day, then we wouldn't be where we are today.
