Musharraf lays down the plan

International observers were present at the last elections in 2002 under Musharraf, for the first time. I doubt he's going to do anything differently this time.

He also claimed the emergency would “ensure absolute, fair and transparent elections,” and said that Pakistan would invite international observers to scrutinize the vote.

As far as I remember the international observers were there on their own and weren't officially a part of the electoral process.

It's not just international observers.

It's the whole process.

1. International Observers (First time being talked about so much)
2. Transparent Ballot boxes (Another first, no fake votes)
3. Party agents preset at ever polling booth. (This used to happen, but not in an official way)
4. Voting and counting done in front of the party agents (previously only voting was done before them)
5. Results from each polling booth announced at the booth (Previously all the results were added and announced from the center)

Musharraf is the most honest politician of Pakistan. He's given up his uniform already and he's announced changes to make the election results as fair as possible. Now I'm not sure what the opposition parties are complaining about.

Musharraf was on CNN interview with Wolf someone and they showed quotes by Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif saying how the elections will be rigged. He called them preparations for defeat so that if they lost they could say that it was all rigged.

And why exactly should we allow them? I dont understand here sir, election free or not its none of their bloody matter. Early the visas were denied why the sudden change? This interference just keeps going on and this just makes me sick.

u may not believe this - but international observers go to all countries to monitor the elections - it just depends on what AGENDA they are coming under.
e.g: if the Jan elections are free and fair and BB and NS dont get a outright victory they will cry foul (rigging) but the observers can nutralise their propaganda.

I think any blames of riging should be considered as sabotage attempt untill it is pinpointed how rigging is possible and what measures are required to avoid them.
