Musharraf Ki Yaad AAyi Us Kay Janay Kay Baad

The figures indicate that during Gen. Musharraf's tenure corruption was reduced significantly. While, post-judicial activism corruption rose 4 times.

Percentage of people out of those sampled. They introduced two new sectors otherwise judiciary would have been at the top.

so you are saying that the latter 400% increase in corruption was not because of the chaotic state which the judiciary was left in by musharraf? ill quote wat i said earlier again

"the same person who destabilised judiciary first hand which lead to a chaos lik situation and hence provided a window of opportunity to employees to mint some money."

Amazing, how you drew up to such a conclusion is beyond me. As clearly, indicated by the report out of 400 people 8 reported corruption in Supreme Court.

Is the CJP or are SCJs above law? to this day the incumbent CJP has not appeared before the supreme judicial council to prove his innocence.

nothing to be amazed of. its a simple conclusion.

such a steep rise in corruption post 2006/07 was bec of musharraf screwing the judiciary and leaving it without legitimate leadership and hence creating a window for those who wanted to get themselves involved in corruption.

wats so difficult in this to understand.

They are indeed answerable to the Supreme Judicial Counsel. The "petition" that was used to "kick out" the CJP was based on mala fide intentions, violated constitutional method of referencing to the SJC, violated legal precedents as the reference wasn't sent to the SJC first and when the CJP was restored everybody had the right to file a proper reference through legal procedures. The President could then have sent the reference and initiated proceedings. A new reference never came, hence no proceedings could ever be started.

Legislation, especially civil litigation, is a very complex field. I do not expect anybody, except top jurists to understand the complexities.

The complete judgment makes clear each and every step of the procedure that should have been followed and mentions that any references cannot by blocked by any person as well. In the case of a reference against the CJP or any other member of the SJC, the said member is sidelined for the inquiry and the SJC presents its binding recommendations to the President for approval.

Either you have no knowledge how business and economics work or you're completely blinded by distorted culminated minds of conspiracy theorists. The basic principle being demand and supply. The economy grew rapidly that spur demand.

so which decade destroyed us most??? provided us with lawlessness and corruption???

1988-1998 or 1999-2008

Pakistan positioned itself as one of the four fastest growing economies in the Asian region during 2000-07 with its growth averaging 7.0 per cent per year for most of this period. As a result of strong economic growth, Pakistan succeeded in reducing poverty by one-half, creating almost 13 million jobs, halving the country's debt burden, raising foreign exchange reserves to a comfortable position and propping the country's exchange rate, restoring investors' confidence and most importantly, taking Pakistan out of the IMF Program.

These facts were acknowledged by the present government in a Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies (MEFP) for 2008/09-2009/10, while signing agreement with the IMF on November 20, 2008. The document clearly (but grudgingly) acknowledged that "Pakistan's economy witnessed a major economic transformation in the last decade. The country's real GDP increased from $60 billion to $170 billion, with per capita income rising from under $500 to over $1000 during 2000-07". It further acknowledged that "the volume of international trade increased from $20 billion to nearly $60 billion. The improved macroeconomic performance enabled Pakistan to re-enter the international capital markets in the mid-2000s. Large capital inflows financed the current account deficit and contributed to an increase in gross official reserves to $14.3 billion at end-June 2007. Buoyant output growth, low inflation, and the government's social policies contributed to a reduction in poverty and improvement in many social indicators". (see MEFP, November 20, 2008, Para 1)

Musharraf to form political party: aide

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's former military ruler Pervez Musharraf is planning to launch a political party in a comeback bid two years after he was unseated in elections, officials said Wednesday.

Musharraf, who has been abroad since ending his nine-year stint in power, could face a criminal trial if he returns home and he is wanted for questioning by the government over the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto.

An aide and election official confirmed to AFP that the retired general had applied to register a new political party with the electoral authorities in the Pakistani capital Islamabad.

Mohammad Ali Saif, a former cabinet minister and now a legal adviser to Musharraf, said election authorities would hear the application on May 10.

“I have formally applied for a new political party called All Pakistan Muslim League. Pervez Musharraf is the head of this party and we will formally announce it after getting registered,” he told AFP.

Saif, an unofficial spokesman for Musharraf, is active in organising the new political party and said the former president had told him in London that he intended to return to Pakistan and fight a criminal case.

Pakistan police registered a case against Musharraf last August, a precursor to potentially putting the ex-president on trial for detaining judges in 2007 as he attempted to cling onto power.

Musharraf imposed a state of emergency and sacked about 60 judges in November 2007 when the supreme court appeared poised to declare him ineligible to contest a presidential election while in military uniform.

“Musharraf will certainly come. He will face all the charges. These are politically motivated cases with no evidence,” said Saif.

“I am in Punjab to establish our party structure here. We will establish it across Pakistan. I can see a bright future for Musharraf in Pakistan.”

Sabir Hussain Gilani, a spokesman for the election commission of Pakistan, confirmed that the body had received the application.

“They want to register their party as All Pakistan Muslim League but there are two more applications wanting the same name,” he said.

The chief election commissioner has issued notices to all the applicants and will decide on their application next month, the spokesman added.
