Liberalised visa regime: Multiple-visa entry for businessmen a go
Published: November 25, 2011

Businessmen can get multiple visas for India whereby they can visit upto 10 cities without having to report at police stations.
NEW DELHI: India’s Home Ministry and Pakistan’s Interior Ministry have arrived at a ‘broad agreement’ on a liberalised visa regime for Indian and Pakistani businessmen by which multiple-entry visas may be allotted.
Arvind Mehta, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and confirmed by Shahid Malik, Pakistan High Commissioner to India that the two countries had come to an agreement on the visa regime and a note for Union Cabinet’s approval will be ready in a week’s time.
The two sides also agreed to grant multiple-entry visas valid for a year to prominent businessmen from both sides.
Addressing a meeting organised by Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) with a Pakistani business delegation in New Delhi on Friday, Mehta said, “the one-year multiple-entry visa would allow business persons to visit up to 10 cities with no requirement of police reporting and no restriction on places of entry and exit.”
On visas, Malik said that the High Commission’s mission statement was that business visas applied for at 11 AM should be given by 4 PM the same day. He hoped that this would be reciprocated by the Indian side.

I hope pakistan doesn't take another 15 years ( as in case of MFN ststus) to respond similarly on the issue......

Good to know that Business & trade is becoming the driving force for the relations between the two....

Its a shame that manmohan singh is still ruling   the dawood gilani have visited India for 26/11 terrorist attack after taking proper visa.

And on the eve of 26/11 anniversary manmohan singh have rubbed the salt to the injuries.

When pakistan is marginalized in the whole world manmohan singh is harming India and getting pakistan what it needs a chance for economic development, escape route etc.

Dawood Gilani travelled on an American passport. Someone with bad intentions hell bent on coming to India to do bad things will find a way of coming in under the radars. Such restrictions on travel only affect the common folk. These restrictions on visas for Pakistanis is woefully outdated.

It is time to encourage people to people contact. Pakistanis should be allowed to travel to India just like any other nationality.
