Businessmen can get multiple visas for India whereby they can visit upto 10 cities without having to report at police stations.
NEW DELHI: Indias Home Ministry and Pakistans Interior Ministry have arrived at a broad agreement on a liberalised visa regime for Indian and Pakistani businessmen by which multiple-entry visas may be allotted.
Arvind Mehta, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and confirmed by Shahid Malik, Pakistan High Commissioner to India that the two countries had come to an agreement on the visa regime and a note for Union Cabinets approval will be ready in a weeks time.
The two sides also agreed to grant multiple-entry visas valid for a year to prominent businessmen from both sides.
Addressing a meeting organised by Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) with a Pakistani business delegation in New Delhi on Friday, Mehta said, the one-year multiple-entry visa would allow business persons to visit up to 10 cities with no requirement of police reporting and no restriction on places of entry and exit.
On visas, Malik said that the High Commissions mission statement was that business visas applied for at 11 AM should be given by 4 PM the same day. He hoped that this would be reciprocated by the Indian side.
