Multiple Explosions Sound Off in Abu Dhabi Amid Air Defense Activity

Interesting that the Yemeni forces are targeting Abu Dhabi and not Dubai. I guess it's a way to send a message that they can target any city in UAE?

Or maybe just the antimissile are in Abu Dhabi?

Launching from Yemen, Abu Dhabi is before than Dubai in the path.

that would have been the case if the missiles had not been intercepted. since they have been intercepted, the attack is a failure. i dont understand why are you celebrating failure?
I am not celebrating..nothing to do with Iran..I am stating the facts...Houthis strategy is not necessarily to inflict damage. (UAE) has lots of $$$ to compensate...the aim is to disrupt the reputation of UAE as a safe haven for investment and tourisem.. and missiles flying overhead does terrible thing to that image(intercepted or not)...nothing makes the foreign $$$ to run away than few explosions here and there..in the airport or of the ports..and houthis are doing a good job of that...so the moral of the story is that if you are a small mouse you do not play the big boys game...stay quiet..do not bomb other peoples homes and life will be good...

It was not a failure. First off the sauds/emiratis have a notoroious history of making up stuff to hide embarassing hits. It has been recorded many many times. But lets assume they were intercepted and they are telling the truth.

it was still an overwhelmingly sucessful strike. The emirati economy is hanging by a thread. A stiff fart and all their investor money and tourists will flee like theres no tommorow.

The UAE is portraying itself as an ultra safe, ultra modern, airport HUB. Their entire existence depends on this image. 1 missile every other week, and goodbye UAE economy.

they will just become another unstable middle east warzone.... They will lose hundreds of billions in economic damage.

The UAE is starting to learn that playing with fire gets you burned sometimes. War is a 2 way street. you cant just go around bombing coutnries and stealing islands without consequence,,

this is just the beginning... If i were a UAE citizen foreigner there, id have the passport up to date. A tiny "country" with a fragile economy and extremey clustereed and expensive infastracture...

If i were the UAE leaders right now. Id go to tehran on my knees. give a blank cheque and tell them you put the number there for Yemens reconstruction. Please accept our humble apology and convey the message to Yemens legitimate government that we want peace and ready to pay whatever compensation they want...

absent that, the houthis should continue pounding the UAE to the ground.. lots of expensive infastracture to pick from.

Great point. Yemen has little to lose as a nation already destroyed while UAE which likes to project itself as a bastion of security and a safe haven has a lot more to lose.

Imagine one Yemeni missile or drone actually hitting the Dubai airport and hit a terminal causing injury.... It's game over for the castle built on sand. That would be unfortunate.

Again.. a great post that's sensible and basically calls it as it is.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — American forces in the UAE stepped in to intercept two incoming ballistic missiles over the capital Abu Dhabi on Monday with the help of Emirati forces, U.S. Central Command said in a statement late that evening local time.

"U.S. forces at Al Dhafra Air Base, near Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, engaged two inbound missile threats with multiple Patriot interceptors coincident to efforts by the armed forces of the UAE in the early morning hours of Jan. 24, 2022," the statement, issued more than 15 hours after the attack, said. "The combined efforts successfully prevented both missiles from impacting the base."

The UAE's state media agency WAM did not initially report the U.S. intervention, which would mark the first such instance in the country. Al Dhafra houses roughly 2,000 U.S. service members and personnel.

UAE should put interceptors in the country border, in the desert, far from views.

It's very embarrasing and scaring see interceptors working over populated skylines.

UAE is under USA protection
