MQM can gather ten times more people in short notice than long march: journalists

. .
Yeah right...

MQM pulled only 5000 people in Punjab when they had a jalsa here. MQM might have some representation in Karachi but it can never pull off a long march of PTI and PAT's caliber and move it to Islamabad like Imran Khan and Dr. Qadri managed to from many miles away.

Not to forget, Imran Khan have always pulled enormous crowd during his jalsas in any big city in Pakistan.

Its true, they force people to come and nobody can refuse MQM.

One time they took my uncle to Altaf bhai jalsa and forced him to sit there to listen to the fat drunk. He wanted to go to the restroom, but they forced him to stay thinking that he would leave.

Then MQM doesn't have true representation even in its domain.

Also, I don't think that it is possible to force an enormous crowd to participate in a jalsa. Imran Khan is a legit crowd-puller.

Couldn't agree more on this... One simply can't dare say NO.

What MQM leaders at local level do is they take away your ID card and only return it to you if you attend their jalsa. This happens at a very local level (universities, colleges, streets). They take your name, number and address and keep your ID card. Happened to my cousins many times in Karachi

PTI has become a joke, is there even an escape plan?

The biggest factor in MQMs ability to drag in more people? Karachi. It is a city much more massive than all other Pakistani cities combined and the areas MQM holds have the highest concentration of people in Karachi.
So yes, MQM does have much more "crowd pulling" capacity on call than any other political party.

However, the largest crowds that dwarfed the spurious claims of "large" at the PTI rally were seen much before. First in the rallies of Bhutto, then against Bhutto once when Karachi rebelled against him in the 70s.. then at the return of Benazir back in the 80s and recently, the "true" crowds pulled by the MQM back in the 80s.. and so on. Compared to them, this PTI gathering is much smaller.
