By an usual rule of thumb for constructing a power station, the planners roughly estimate the cost as $1 million for each megawatt capacity. So, $1,000 million for a 800 mW power station is not far above the usual cost. You have to understand that while Indian engineering companies are capable to design, produce, construct and erect all the mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, piping, foundation, drainage, structure and all other works to complete a project like this.
BD is incapable to do so. As a result, foreign contractors and vendors will be asked to do the works and supply the components. Do not you think that the cost of foreign participation is a little higher than if it is done by the local companies?
