Move Over Missile, DRDO on Rath Yatra

it happens... its like if you kill a dog by accident or a cat or any living animal .. then you need to donate 10% gold or silver of his weight to any temple. :)

They all must be feeling stupid by now - looking at their picture in newspaper for wrong reasons .
probably they did not realize that it will make to print media when they posed for it .

some heads are bound to role in DRDO .

But question is why DRDO let it happen despite a sane voice of protest .

sadly the unfortunate episode will cast shadow on few of DRDO's achievements.

If anything is to be noted from the Desis, is that if saner heads are not present at the top.. the bottom ones will behave insane too.

Nothing will happen to them.The shunted scientist may get a fake promotion.But he is finished at DRDO anyways.
Corporate Social Responsibility is a perfectly valid reason for their action.

Is thier act best use of resources for CSR- No
Is it illegal in any way- Hell no!

Heads roll? Yeah right.. At most they will be transferred to one of DRDO's zillion other labs.

No prior approval was taken from MOD for disbursal of funds . I guess it's pretty outside the prescribed practices .

somebody must pay price for this splurge of tax payer's money .

There is nothing wrong here People must remember that DRDO budget is some 10 thousand crores ;
5 crores under CSR is allowed under the rules

These scientists cannot spend anything on there own

MOD people especially the Financial Authorities must be knowing about it and have approved it

What has happened here is that ALL these " religious " and sentimental scientists
have come together at one place hence this religious project was taken up with
such enthusiasm

It was the collective religious desire for
appeasing or making well disposed a deity , thus incurring a divine favour OR
to avoid divine retribution

No approval is needed from anyone for CSR.
Let me share a personal anecdote - My father is head of a mini Ratna PSU.When my math teacher's spouse died form a heart attack, the company picked up the tab for the funeral because my school was sponsored by the company.

Hint: the school, or the whole chain is owned by a certain Mr. Salman Khurshid.
(Its Delhi Public School of the MMS scandal fame for those of you too lazy to google :P)
 
Critics here have NO idea about the religious importance of the Pandharpur
temple in Maharashtra

All these scientists in DRDO Pune must be ardent devotees of the
Lord Vitthal of Pandharpur

Now these scientists must ALSO religiously complete their projects
and since they have the Lord on their side ; they will succeed in their ventures
there by SAVING a lot of foreign exchange which is used for importing weapon systems

I dont think anybody will be sacked.. they will be transferred in worst case. Hope somebody files a PIL in court.

Seriously though, what a waste of government funds. If they really wanted to help out in terms of public support.. perhaps a digitized monitoring system for temples(and other religious places) to identity potential terrorists and/or help in designing optimum evacuation plans and so on would have been better.
