Mother in China crushed to death in escalator accident, saves son before dying

.
What a disgustingly horrible way to die. I am truly deeply shocked...

I wish I could unsee this

. .
Their building engineers should be sacked. A full review and inquiry should be done, and the company responsible for making this escalator should be sued for poor quality. Extremely poor quality.

Rest in peace to the mother. Her last action in this life was noble.

Sad thing is she could have been saved by pressing stop button :(

Yes, this could have been avoided if the maintenence workers were more careful (who was responsible for double checking?), or the store employees pressed the red stop button, or some kind of in-built failsafe in the machinery itself.

Really tragic incident. I hope people remember this in the future, negligence can kill.

Rest in peace my sister. Yet again we see a mother's love in saving her child, which cost her own.

The poor child is going to be mentally scarred for his whole life.

And the great tragedy is that it could have been avoided.

Great post.

I do have to say I am angry at the way the two female attendants acted. Only one of them made some attempt at reaching out to the lady. If they both tried they may have been able to pull her clear.

Also folks did they know something was wrong, or were they standing at the top to meet customers?

My heart was pounding seeing when the mommy fell, the last thing she did -- i guess is testament to the maternal instinct and mother's unconditional love --- is pushing her baby as far away as possible.

I pounded my living room table when i saw that video.

Those two workers should have pressed the emergency button. I don't understand why they didn't do that, and just stood there.

This was so preventable. And I , as an observer, am already deeply affected by this just seeing a video. I cannot even begin to imagine what is going on to the baby. I am so very, very sorry to see this video.

I agree, I feel angry at the reaction of the store employees, I mean there is a huge red stop button on the side there.

Maybe they were suffering from shock, I don't know.

The reason they were standing there I think is because the store had just opened, and the "first" customer to use the escalator was the unlucky one.

Really tragic, there needs to be some kind of failsafe built into the machinery, like the emergency brakes in elevators.

Me too it was just an awful video.

Hopefully people will remember this, it can't be allowed to happen again. Nobody else should die to such an easily preventable tragedy.

Luckily the child is safe. I think that's what the mother would have wanted above all else.

I agree bro. I have two young daughters and it is heartbreaking. I shall pray for her.

100% agreed, it does seem like shock. I'm not saying this in a sexist way but a guy or two would have been helpful here. Men are biologically are more inclined to "fight" then "flight", the latter brings in the freeze situation.

Yes, brother, let us pray for the mother's soul. I know that Allah (subhanahu wa taala) will be merciful. May the angels of God protect the baby and comfort him and the family in this time of bereavement.

I hope this video becomes viral, and anyone who has anything to do with escalators or machinery remembers it, so she did not die in vain.

If even one person can be saved in the future from suffering the same fate...

I for one will be looking very carefully at that big red button, even if I'm not the first one in the store.

One of the assistants stepped backward at the moment the victim stepping off the ascalator as if she just waited to see something happen.
